I'll take a stab at it, since you tend to deep stage to clean up your lite which is taboo in the **** Hot Rod Association for everyone but the pros, your converter maybe too tight thus allowing the front springs to start applying the energy that is stored in them. To tie the front end down defeats the purpose of using that stored energy and a big block with 9" tires needs all the help it can get from the front end so what I think you need Phil is a shorter front tire similar to what Mark Faul and Jody Lang use to get a desired reaction time. You've done this long enough to know people have faster or slower reactions than others. You'll take a small hit in elapsed time but again look at what Jody, Toby and Mark have done over the years and even the thread an the main page now about Katie Sepanek, these people have taken cars that while not the fastest in their own class have won on a routine basis.

You have never seen me deep stage! I promise you that.

Lets say you have two converters that flash 5000 RPM, that doesn't mean both converters flash to 5000 RPM with the same drag, the ideal situation with a foot brake car is too have a very free converter to its flash, then lock as efficient as possible, while being as light weight as possible at the same time. My own Chevelle had this same problem, until the converter was close to being dialed, on the two step at 2500 RPM the front would want to top out, playing with different converters put a stop to the problem.

How loose of converter would you try behind a 396 325 car our converter now flashes to 5200 Jeff taylor sent the dyno sheet to have my converter matched? it does flash to 5200

Look to the best working GM A body stockers over the past 10+ years, cars like Kevin Bordstrom's B/SA '69 Chevelle and Jason Line's C/SA GS Buick and you find the answer to your question. It's ain't in the converter!

You need to test converters, and fine tune the converter, or turn the two step down, for optimum results. What gear stack do you run, and trans?

Tesz powell has a chevell the same year of course its a bracket car but stock suspension . His car did the same exact thing I want to say the did something with the front end. put something upside down . I am not sure thats what i am fishing for. I dont think I want to change converters just yet. I cant post pics but I bet Micheal beard has tesz car at piedmont .
