Tides? Just a little change in the currents eh? How about a big old honk'n tsunami?

The National event at Belle Rose was a wonderful event. If I could say there was a glitch, it would have been in the weather. After all, it is supposed to be spring time down in the south. Oh, I almost forgot, the other glitch was with that BLUE CAR! It attracted all kinds attention which I really don't know why. Everyone was looking in the trunk and the interior. I heard someone say there must be several sacks of Crayfish in the trunk. I can't recall the name of the owner of the car...Having an old moment.

Jeff, I'm not just picking on you. I just printed out the specs for the Ford crate motors and the Chrysler ones. Anyone with half a brain knows these motors are ridiculously under rated. Just one example look at the 5.7 Hemi that's rated at 305hp.. It's 12.7 to 1 compression ratio, its got 2.10 intake valve and 1.60 ehaust, a 584/552 cam, a 1000 cfm throttle body and heads according to Hot Rod magazine that flow 315 cfm right out of the box. This motor will make over 600 hp easily. The Fords are just as bogus. If you all think this is good for stock eliminator mail me whatever you're smoking. Oh and by the way, for all you owners of $100,000 cobalts or G5s wait till some Ford or Chrysler guys get these motors in GT, they've got heads you can only dream about.

Hey Jared; being a SuperStock racer what is your take on the Mustangs that are running in ss/aa & ss/ba? After looking at what Rock Haas was running last year and then looking at what they did this year with the new index, shows that there was/is surely sandbagging going on.

I don't know how much of it was sandbagging and how much of it was sorting out a brand new combination. Rock's car is real fast though. 8.9's in a D car is incredible.

What I DO know is that, similar to Stock, the "old" combo's won't be able to hang with the new Mustangs in SS/AA or SS/BA. The rumor flying around not too long ago was that Ford Engineers claimed those cars make 1000 hp. I've since heard they make more than that. Based on the performance of PB Candies' new Super Cobra Jet in Belle Rose, I have no doubt they'll be wicked fast.

The best Race Hemi motors are approaching 1000 horsepower now, but that's after 40+ years of development. I don't think the new CJ's have even't scratched the surface of their performance potential. Considering that it's currently rated @ 500 hp (same as my Belvedere), I expect them to be running mid 8's before long. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they're as quick or quicker than Daniels' Dart at SS/AA weight. No doubt they'll need to be factored, but I don't think they're as far out of line as the CJ combo's in Stock. The "new" motors already have a lot of the advantages that an SS motor would have over a Stocker anyway.

Can someone please get back to the point and explain how there was a "free" time trial in the middle of what is supposed to be a national event? I have seen impromptu "free" runs for the purpose of Class Eliminations at Open events, and I remember a no-time wheelie contest at Lebanon Valley LODRS one year, but how do you get a free run, at a national after qualifying has been completed?

I'm not trying to stir the pot, I actually want to know what guidelines that falls under. That is the real issue, regardless of how fast Jeff went. Under what guidelines is it appropriate to offer a free time run?

And/or, is that different that running a race-within-a-race at any event? I assume the CIC race doesn't count towards AHFS?

Pat?

Evan

I think this question was resolved many posts ago. Supposedly, nhra only counts qualifying and elimination runs for the ahfs. Bonus runs, no matter the name, do not count.

Let me give you folks a little history. I used to race trucks in stock eliminator. When I got into my trucks I could run 1.60 under anywhere and faster on occasion. I qualified No 1 at Indy and anywhere. Over the years, I didn't change, my trucks didn't change, my motor didnt change, and the last two years in Indy, I could not qualify with my trucks. And then there is the 69 Super Bee Six Pak I just sold. C/SA. Best ever 10.60, could run 10.70's most anywhere, but the 396's and 428 or 390's or the new EFI Bowties or whatever could run 10.30's. Nobody was shouting to hit the Chevys or Fords, and nobody was shouting to lower the hp on my big orange Super Bee. We have also been running this 360 combo for 10 years in Top Stock and have gone a best of 9.52 @ 138, but in more SS configuration. We got that motor with 2 pts less compression in SS/GT and its pretty good there. The main purpose for this motor is so the small block racers in SS can have a newer engine with more modern parts than that old stuff people have worn out. I have asked for years for new heads for the BB and SB mopars, but to no avail. Everybody got more new parts than we got. We got R/T SB Mopar heads less than one month before Mother Mopar quit making them. So we got nothing. I ain't crying, and I'm real proud of what my guys did. This was a total internal company machine except for the chassis/suspension which B & B did a really great job on. I just pushed the gas, and didn't do a very good job on that. The time trial on Sat morn at No Problem whas just that. The field was set, and the hit was made in response to the changed schedule for a dial in reference. I don't think I crossed the scale on that run. I had been @ +/- 5 lbs of 3350 all weekend. Should the car be in Stock?. I think it is the future and I am amazed the cars were built because of the circumstances last year with bankruptcy and who knows what else. Next time I'm gonna call Drooze and dictate this. My fingers are worn out. My reality check this weekend was when a guy told me 'your posts on the net don't make you sound so old and fat'. Just goes to show you it just don't always go your way.

You go get them big guy, you can take the heat.. If you were still getting run over by 396's everything would still be hunky doree.Haha Its all about fun and you really are having some now..Now when your fishing in the Bayou you can just sit there and laugh cause this is the most fun you can have..(untill you go 2.00 under)

What happens then the Stock Car Apocolypse ? Gravity sinks in on itself and minblack holes form swallowing the car ?

Or is that what it would take to hurt the Combo to the point its moved up the ladder ?

But really , does something Magic happen at 2.0 under ?
