I know a few people have stated in the Roy Hill and Kurt Busch instances, that neither event featured a full field, so no one got bumped and shouldn't be that big of a deal. I understand that...the more cars, the better, and even possibly some extra exposure, as in the Kurt Busch case.. I think the resentment comes from the fact that a "name" person can get entry without A grade point (let alone the required number) and regular people can not. I haven't raced Stock since November of 2006. If I had tried to enter Atlanta on Monday, do you think I, without any grade points since the '06 Dutch Classic, would have been allowed in? I bet good money that I would not have been. I think Dan Fletcher wrote on here a few weeks ago that he tried to enter Virginia one year, being a former World Champ, AND defending event Champ, and was denied entry. I think THAT is the issue, the double standard shown towards other celebrities and not towards our own racers.

NHRA cost themselves setting the hook on a Sportsman standout by not allowing him to use his Bracket Finals Gold Card for Nat'l/Div'l events. They inadvertently not only cost themselves money in the long term, but also manufacturers and tracks. Good thinkin'. :rolleyes:

Hey Chip! How much money did you save with your Gold Card the year after you won the Bracket Finals? How much did you *spend* that year on crew passes for your family, souvenirs, and how much did you spend with manufacturers and other businesses? How much have you spent since? Just think how much money you'd have if you were still just bracket racing the Cheerwine Nova!

Ding, ding! We have a winner. It's NOT about Roy Hill or Kurt Busch... it's about the now-irrelevant grade point system. If you don't want to use the grade point system, fine - GET RID OF IT! *But*, if you ARE going to have rules and a grade point system, USE THEM!

a bit off topic but the 'little stories' as far as rules bending and life exploits have been rather humourous, if there are more tales to be told lets hear them ( without getting people into trouble that is! )

As a S/S competitor at the race in question, I have no problem with Roy getting an entry! In fact, I would love nothing more than to see him in the other lane, come first round!!!
