These modifications have been allowed for a while.

I just think the NHRA should open those rules up to all SS cars though.

BTW - I was also referring to the other allowances given to the construction of the FWD Conversions.... like the complete elimination of the factory K frame & the fabricated control arms. It makes the cars a lot safer and a lot easier to work on. (Albeit more expensive). I have no problem with it. But..... I'd like to be able to do that to my Firebird. It would make it a better car.

And to Rich South - Best of luck with the new car - it looks like a 1st class piece.

I heard a "story" from a Stocker about his motor mount location this weekend I want there so I cannot attest to its accuracy, but he had a modified K member , and he was incorrect on his location, it was almost 1inch too far forward. HE was a stand up guy to bring it to the NHRA's attention. Class in my book.

NHRA Tech told him, as long as it wasnt a rearward location, and hence a competitive relocation it was OK.

He has since changed it to "legal" location, but for a guy to say "Hey I screwed up" Mia Culpa.....well........good deal.

Makes horse sense to me.

Cheers

Chris

I want to thank all of you that have enjoyed this post as intended. I will tell you that there is stock floorpan in this car. The rule says the driveshaft tunnel must be fully welded to the as built OEM floor. It does not say you must use the COMPLETE oem floor. I can tell you for a fact that there is oem floor in this vehicle.
I got more than a few Private Messages from racers that said they don't post pictures of their in process builds because of the exact reaction of many on this site.
These photos were posted for your enjoyment, it's sad what this thread has become.

There is nothing oem about this floor.

I'd like to see what is oem as well. I am quite certain that I couldn't put a floor like that in my Mustang if I wanted to run it in SS/GT.

Mr. Ross,

What is sad??? Is that you posted pics of a car that has some issues. When it is pointed out to you, Zac posts pics of one of our cars and states that it is built the same illegal way this car is, and goes on to talk about all of our cars. I posted a pic of the floor pan in a brand new cobalt to show we do put the factory floor pan in our cars. All B&B cars have been build the same since 2005, by NHRA specs and rules.

Now, lets address the issue of the firewall! NHRA Rule Book 2009, page 125 SS/GT states, " A complete one-piece steel firewall that resembles OEM must be installed, welded in place, and sealed from the driver compartment. Now you may want to remove those pics too!

Now I suggest you leave B&B out of any problems you may be having. We do know the rule book, WELL!

If I were Pat and Andy, I would not let anyone take pics of the cars that he builds but the owner.

Didn't Rampy try to enter a SS/BS cavalier in a race a few years back and when they took the car thru tech, the tech guys wouldn't let them race it in S/S? And wasn't it a B&B built car? And then shortly there after NHRA had a rules update with pics in the national dragster about what is acceptable in S/S with pics and stuff? There was the rule about notching the rear bumpers for wheelie bars amongst other things? Didn't Doug Stewart get that car and end up racing it in comp for awhile? Thats what I remember, maybe I'm wrong. I guess as a chassis builder one has to push the rules just the same as anyone else to build the best performing car else you won't be a chassis builder for long. Course how can anyone say they took a FWD cobalt and stuffed a V8 in it and made it RWD and call much of anything about it stock anymore?... Goodluck to all involved and that is a beautiful car Mr South, you'll probably have more in paint and body work than I have in my car!
