Re: live from Cecil County-NHRA Lucas Oil Series
First round of Stock went OK - weather was a factor for sure - most slowed up .02 to .03 - track was pretty good - no reason to be scared of it today - saw a few spin but with overcast skies for most of the round the track can't be blamed ..........on to two .

If you were not on the grounds last night lets just say you missed an opportunity - Stock and S/S under the lights was a thrill -- and I must say even the .90 classes provided some close racing .The rain held off until almost midnight and most everyone had already hit the hay as it was one of the longest racing days we've had in some time .
Last evening provided some real fun for this reporter as I was invited to have dinner with the 'Bender Family' - this was an old fashioned affair - one that reminded me of a time gone by - the one before motorhomes and enclosed trailers -- long before TV dishes and cell phones . The meal was prepared and cooked (and very well I might add ) on the back of someones ramp truck--- almost in the dark but it didn't seem to matter as everyone had a great time -- winners and losers -- and we all got to watch some great racing together - the way things used to be . Its been a very long time since I've had that much fun watching a race .My hats off to Bobby - Penny - Gary -Michelle - Bill - Ken .....well I forgot a bunch but you get it .All of this made me think of some friends I would see at every event - you'll remember too -- Stein - Cook - Welsh - Smith - Xakellis -- its always nice to remember 'back in the day' ................ Today's racing -- unsure is the best word at the moment .At this time its still dark out but plenty wet - not raining but but it would take some serious Sun to dry us out - I'm sure the NHRA and Cecil County staff will do their best to dry us out but more could be on the way -- we'll see .I'll be back a little later with an update . |
