Still without power after 8 hours. If I believe Weatherbug we've had somewhere around 16 inches of rain TODAY! No major damage yet, thank G-d, but the eye is just passing over us, so we're not done yet. I hope everyone stays safe!

It's just stopped raining here more than 24 hours after it started. Have no idea how much we recieved but wouldn't be surprised if it isn't around 20 inches. I think I will get some much needed rest before it's time to fill the generator again. Good luck Lew and the rest of our nieghbors to the north.

Hello fellow racers and friends.
We have been plugged in to the motorhome generator since yesterday am We got power back on around 1:30 am this morning. I am happy to report we are still here and safe . I lost all the siding on one side of my house ,but no leaks.. Lots of trees down everywhere . Lots of rain also .. Jr had a tree come down with in inches of his shop and lost 1/2 of his roof shingles on his new (to him ) house with minor leakage. Went to town to get a little gas around 9 pm last nite( past curfew) and being nosey ,A lot of the roads were not passable with trees down and power lines down..... no rain but still lots of wind. Curfew from 7 pm to 7 am. This morning is beautiful as i walk the road to pick up all siding that i could find. Some was as far as an 1/8 mile in neighbors yards and on the road as well. Well its off to the garage to get the rake and wheelbarrow to do a little limb clean-up . Hope everyone up north is safe as well and good luck. |

We've been cleaning up all day and made a dent in it but still have got a long way to go. The garage at the house on the river is now a drive through courtesy of the storm surge and I am still trying to figure out who the owner of the boat that came to rest in the front yard is but all in all its not too bad, some folks have had it much worse. To my understanding the county to our east has some real devastation and some are being told they will not have power for 5 to 7 days. We should get ours back by Tuesday is what we've been told. Hopefully with a little luck I can get straight this week and make it to Darlington, hope everyone up north faired ok.

Nothing to report here in west Raleigh. Just the usual loose debris everywhere and mostly small branches and twigs fell down. Lucky because the house is surrounded by tall old trees. No fallen trees anywhere I drove around today, but lots of pictures of them on the web as well as a crushed car or two. The paper reports that there were five storm-related fatalities in the state.
My white car has a nice leaves and berries pattern on it now. Serves me right for never waxing it. |

Still a lot of power outage here .Just a few have power and we were one of the lucky ones. Lots of bussinesses closed today in city. It is terrible in Kinston,,,,,,No power ,so a lot of places are closed and probably is a good thing so the workers can get things cleaned up and going again. Still could have been worse.....
We will see y'all in Darlington |
