All I will say about that, is that it is no secret that I have a body in white......

If this does get built the guys at Chevrolet also know how to get in touch with me!

I took a look at the COPO Camaro at the PRI show, it is impressive. There's a little problem that I saw with the engine, it has studs holding the heads. Good luck in getting a head off the engine with the engine in the car. It looks to me like the engine has to come out to get the heads off, fun time for teardown.
I also looked at the 302 Ford Stock Eliminator ($85K) car at the show, I own a Camaro, but I think that I would like to get the Mustang first choice over the COPO. Here's the catch, can't afford either!

http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/im...cons/icon1.gif NEW COPO Camaro runs 9.69 at 140 MPH in testing at Bradenton
Word out of Bradenton is that the COPO Camaro ran 9.69 at 140 mph with soft 60 foot times in the 1.40 range. They are yanking the engine tonight and running the naturally aspirated engine tomorrow.

Officially this is still a concept but Chevy Performance insiders said that this shows the brand's commitment to drag racing.

Head over to GMPerformanceParts.com and SIGN UP for COPO information to show the execs there is interest in getting this up and running.

Gump, you seem to have an inside connection; maybe you could suggest to GM Perf that using an aftermarket 12 bolt instead would return some brand credibility to the concept. I think that the extra hassle when swapping gears compared to a 9" is worth it in order to keep the car an all GM design.

While I'm not a fan of the "ringer" versions of late model Mustangs, Challengers and Camaros in Stock, I am pleased to see the manufacturers taking an interest in battling each other on the dragstrips again, and with that in mind it's great to see Chevy willing to finally get in the fray.

Looking for the real scoop on the new COPO Camaro? GM High Tech Performance gained exclusive inside access to the top secret testing conducted yesterday and we've got loads of behind the scenes coverage coming soon!

Today, we can tell you with certainty that the proof of concept COPO Camaro is an easy 9-second contender and clicked off a 9.90@138 on its maiden voyage down the dragstrip. That's right, a 9.90 on the very first pass! After that, we watched as the COPO Development team, which consists of Russ O'Blenes, Robin Wright, Scott Roslund, and Cliff Cohen, make a series of changes, taking the COPO from a 9.90 to a string of 9.70s. With slow 60-foot times (1.40-second range) the COPO has more in it but managed a 9.69-second pass at 140-mph on its best run. As you would expect from the editors of GM High Tech Performance and Camaro Now, we've got a lot more information to come... but you are going to have to wait for a future issue of the magazine to find out more!!

Yeah Jeff I'm all for brand credibility also, I'm not a big fan of the V10 Challenger DP having that "Torque-Glide" trans...

I'm not a fan of the new Camaro at all, but yes it is good GM coming to the plate....
