Truman won back to back IHRA world championships in 1982 and 1983. Was the Car craft allstar driver of the year in stock in 83. He should be mentioned in the early years.

The guys in Division 1 were and are still some of the best.
Bednaz ( Ed)
Bednaz (Todd)
Bob Broadbent
Dean Cook
and Sam Murry

Jim Waldo won many times over the years in various cars. Also tough to match his record....
Jim Hughes was another racer that sure could win the big races....

Many guys did well for a few years and could be listed but I don't think anyone could match the previous 3....

Alan Peters was always one of my favorites from this area....and way back....Truman Fields with his Hard Times Firebird.....

Some of you guys need to read the first Post/Question that was asked, then you can delete Kevin Helms from you list, and yes from 1990 to current he is one of the best!

For a man that doesn't run very much, I would give Randy Shepard recognition.

I have had the opportunity to watch him beat my Dad a few times at Brainerd and also myself atleast once.

We don't get a lot of chances to race up here, but Mr. Shepard is not an easy customer in the Orange Pumpkin...

Jim Hughes. Two time world Champ, !983, 1989, with the points system. Many time Divisional Champ. Still wins Vegas Nats about every other time he shows up-ha. The Smartest racer I have ever met. He can tell me what my 330 foot time was on any given run ( well almost). I was very fortunate to have met him the first year I started racing stock.

I hear you on that 833, it was a pretty good trans for it's time though.

Showing my age and geographic location I am going with Joe Delorenzo.
If you have to ask I am sorry you never got to see him drive, I was lucky enough to hang around him and to just listen to him talk about racing and Chevys was something else.
We lost a great one way to soon.

Times two on that one, Dan. Joey was one of a kind ...Every time you sat down with him, you'd learn something.

Go to 3:13 on this video , and you'll see Joe Moon doing what he did best>>

You can't argue with 3 consecutive World Championships, especially when automatics are the majority!!!

I was just a punk kid in the sixties , but used to love to watch Cal Method row the gears in his big Chevyes
