Knoll's mother ran a gas station for years, so he knew all about the govt. excise tax deal.

Welcome to local "boutique" gasoline. The Chicago area, according to the EPA, requires its own specific blend of gasoline, and only that blend may be sold in that area. Any company selling another blend without a special exception issued by the EPA could be fined millions of dollars. If they can fine a muffler shop $50K to $500K over one catalytic converter, imagine what they could do to a company over a few hundred thousand gallons of gasoline.

It looks like the makers of that particular blend of gas must have donated a fair amount of cash for Hope and Change. Why isn't that a surprise?

Actually, summer gas is required in most major urban areas and the requirement dates back to 1995.

That wasn't a gas station. That was the world headquarters for Torco Racing Fuels.

It's "oxygenated" fuel, and it is required in the 6 county area here.

My shop is 70 miles south of my house. When I fill up down there my truck will pick up 2 mpg usually.
