What about John Schloe? '69 Bird... He not racing this year? Was thinkin that he was running "C"/automatic

Brett, has any one mentioned the three "C"`s to ya?

Carb,cam and converter/clutch .

Have a good foundation with the short block and focus on those three things and you`ll do fine.

Shloe`s car has been a D-port motor for a while now I believe.

Not to jump in here...I've seen a Pontiac 3-spd stick muscle car before...(back in the day), and I saw a '66 or '67 SS-396 Chevelle with same once...couldn't believe the shift-patten emblem on console...car was NEW or a year old?

Re: Stocker pistons...

A lot of muscle cars came standard with a 3-speed stick and auto trans or 4-speed was an option. Same with posi rears; typically it was an option. We look back on the prices of these options today and think "why would somebody pass on that cheap option?" but in the day, as it should be today, every penny counted.

Brent is a future STOCK racer on a budget, not a comp or SS racer.
