NHRA Pure stock never had much of a car count either. They won't add it back now. |

Ed please help and spread the word. Fwiw....one of the other blogs was about the future of Stock. Well this is one answer to save Stock bringing back Pure Stock. Use or mod the IHRA rules to make it better. There is a building interest and get a good bit of emails. Every track I go to racers are talking about Pure Stock. They want to run Stock and not enough budget or time for a full Stocker. Me I like the economy of the class. Such as using pump high test. Putting the car back on the street is fairly easy. Two weeks ago at Empire Raceway four of us met and had a great conversation! Two were building new Pure Stockers. Got to meet the owner of the rocking quick A/PS Belvedere. One last thing. Stock has a following and racers that want to compete. Some of us can put a little in at a time to make it more competitive. I raced my 1995 ImpalaSS in ECIRS for several years. Got it to run quick enough to run under the index. I did not have room for a trailer at home. So drove the car to the tracks changing tires. This is a great opportunity waiting to happen. Especially the young kids with the hot new cars. All of us Pure Stocker racers..please add your voice. Send a letter to NHRA asking them to add Pure Stock. Then let's kick some butt! Dan |

To be in the game you got to ask to play! If this happens it is because we had the balls to do it together! D |
Re: Pure Stock HP Adjustment
NHRA thinks present Stock & Super Stock cars are a tech pain in the rear. Your stuff would have more strict rules. I can not imagine them adding you guys. Looser rules = easier to tech. No more cam duration checking like Stock is now. I have been through several tear downs under the old Stock rules. Cam checking was time consuming, and difficult in some engine compartments. Ask yourself why they would want to take on more of that.

Understand this well. Been through several tear downs. You figure with new technology you can determine duration and lift with an AP on our phones. Think there need to be a rethink on the Spring Rule. Limiting to 100# Seat and fixed Spring Slection. Measure the cam like in Stock, lift only! Requires less time in tear down. Again...will have to deal with it. But going to solicit NHRA. D |
Re: Pure Stock HP Adjustment
Dan I understand you're passionate about this, but looking at Nitrojoe's IHRA stats as of May 25, I'm just not seeing much demand for it.
1/8th mile 52 traditional stock 1 FWD 3 GT 37 CM 11 PS 21 EFI 1/4 mile 27 traditional stock 1 FWD 2 CM 1 PS 20 EFI There are over 3 times as many crate motor cars and I'm not hearing anyone clamoring for them in NHRA. It's just too many classes. With all those PS, CM, EFI, and stock GT classes diluting the field when was the last time you had a heads up? I'm oversimplifying as this doesn't apply to everyone of course, but IHRA stock just seems much more focused on bracket instead of heads up, 1/8th mile, and lower cost cars like PS and CM. Doesn't mean it is bad, just different. I think to ever make your case you'd need to have much more PS participation in IHRA than there is currently. |
