Just remember all factory Challenger hoods (2008 to current) are aluminum. Some of the aftermarket units are carbon fiber or fiberglas and would not be legal.

On a side note on hoods, a good friend just bought a Demon hood, $2499, just to have it, some guy in Mich had 3. Sometimes it requires the vin number from a car (Hellcat-Demon) to buy

Any Dodge/Jeep dealer can order a hood. Takes 3-4 days.

We have had good luck with the 392. Larry blowed one up early on, but we don't know why. Mopar gave us another. Course that won't happen again. The motor in the car Kevin runnered up in is still in the car, will run very well for a basically stock motor and we never had any trouble with the caps. Just for info, the 392 Truck motor is the same everything but has some strengthening done and the casting number is different. The Hellcat motor heads are the same, but is a darker aluminum and again a different casting number. We have not had any trouble with the stock heads and these are the Apache heads and the Apache motor for the sake of conversation. The 1320 motor and the 392 motor are the same. All the heads are the same, chamber, pour, etc. Some come up a little different on the runners, but are the same. Blocks are good blocks, heads are good, cranks are good. Rods are powered metal. I think the rod that failed on Larry was an aftermarket however. Original 392 was 380 and after Kevin the Tinkler got thru it is 402. The 390 on the 1320 I don't where it came from but it is now 413 I think. But then again NHRA likes to hit some of the Mopars before they run. Years ago the Gen II 426 single 4 bbl motor was 400 hp, was always 400 hp, and was in the book at 400 hp, but before anyone built one it was 430. Modern DP 392 was 400, but was 430 before anyone ran one, and of course now the showroom 392 is hit already and none out there. Probably the worse is the Hellcat which is 600 hp and shipping is 4500 without driver, so @ 4670 you can break the car in half or just run into the wall. Hard to control a 4670lb car.

Jeff, thank you for taking the time to explain the differences and details of the engine.

Re: 2019 Challenger 1320 is now legal for Stock and Super St

The 1320 is factory rated @ 485 h.p.

NHRA factored @ 413 h.p.

S.O.P. on all new production line vehicles added to the classification guide starting in 2018 is to multiply the automaker's advertised h.p. x .85

Thus the 413 h.p. from the 485 adv. h.p.

Assuming car is built from scratch. If you claim 2019 1320 instead of 2013 Challenger you will weigh right at 100#s more for B/SA . Is that correct?

My daughter had a Scat Pack car with a 392, stock except for a muffler delete, she would pedal it easy to leave on stock tires, and it still went 12.03 :D
