Maybe the Lysol people are psychic?

Maybe you didn't know this; but what you are referring to is the flu virus which most years is a new strain. The coronavirus is a new virus (first diagnosed in Wuhan, China in Dec. 2019) for which there isn't a vaccine, and against which humans don't have any built up immunity.

Maybe you didn't know this, but every year the vaccines don't work for that years new strain.

This is widely known but I think Bill is saying that Covid 19 is new to the world and it first sprang up in China. No need to be splitting hairs here. For now, all of our lives are turned upside down.

Oscarf164, are you working on a false equivalency here? By comparing the Covid 19 virus to other known viruses.

Is it really a stretch to compare two widely-known viruses that continue to produce new strains?

There's a new virus most every year.....next year the china/covid 19 will be one of the known ones and there will be a new unknown one.

I thought this was common knowledge.

It is a new Virus and not related to anything we have before.
Scientist at CDC say a Vaccine will not be available for a year.

The big problem are people who are asymptomatic.
Most will not know they are an unwitting carrier.
They may never get sick or show mild signs of illness.
A major reason how all Pandemics grow.

You basically repeated what I said. So what's your point Doctor?

More gibberish from you. Covid 19 is much more dangerous than any of the other viruses hence the global shutdown. And it was never heard of until 10 weeks ago.

In reply to both Dan and Bruce, human coronavirus is not new at all. COVID-19 is a new strain of it. And yes, I understand and am not dismissing the seriousness of it.

Unless everyone calling it 'coronavirus' is a complete misnomer.

Then why are you acting like this is something special this year? It's like the kids in schools today...they're all special.

Does the hype have you gripped in fear that bad?
