Great point Robin , in my opinion , it might be a good idea to ban sensors on wheels & drive shafts & hand out ecu's on race day like they hand out restrictor plate at nascar tracks or some type of spot check at the scales at least .
. Also all throttle bodies should be fully manual linkage [ equall to a carb } no drive by wire .

The title of the thread is CLASS RACER wall of SHAME, yet there is actually on ONE name mentioned (and he got booted for a "judgment" infraction). THIS is why drag racing is in the shape it is, to no small degree. Nobody will actually pin the tail on the donkey. There have been hundreds of examples of absolutely blatant cheating throughout the past decades, but the offender is either not punished at all, or is given a DQ for that race. If we all think back to the good old days, we remember that a good competitive Super Stock car could be built (in its entirety) for the price of a really good set of heads and an intake manifold today. Ported heads? Used to be illegal. Million-dollar aftermarket rotating assemblies with Honda rod journals? Same thing. Racing continues to grow more and more expensive (and therefore illogical), because nobody (and not just NHRA) takes truly decisive action against cheating. Laws don't stop behavior... enforcement does.

For years NHRA has not allowed wheel and driveshaft sensors directly connected to ECU internal data loggers. Bo Kenney warned me about that in 2009 when the season before he was checked at several national events. As part of your agreement to race this access is granted same as checking your carb. If NHRA lost the equipment or has no one trained is on them it's simple as accessing the ECU and looking at settings. The list of approved ECUs is known accessing each and what to look for can be provided by manufacturer with basic computer skills, minimal training and a guidebook for each it's easy.

If you are logging DS speed it must be a separate device the sensor cannot be directly wired to the ECU disabling traction control.
It's all about traction control and wheel counting.

What brought attention recently was a pro mod team not allowing NHRA to look (so they have the ability) the argument being exposing fuel and timing maps which are proprietary to the team may be copied and shared. If the team had doubts about NHRA personnel morality or had something to hide is between them and NHRA.

What you do with your car is your business and NHRA if there are any doubts. Years ago I was questioned about having a transbrake. Funny thing I didn't have a 2 step never have!

By the way MSD Grid can do with a carb combo most of what EFI ECU can do.
