Of course, one would have to assemble the tri-power 428s, seeing the last tri-powers were in 66..(389 and 421) and the first 428s were in 1967 (Q-jet) ;-)

Thanks Mark for setting me straight. My fingers and brain not on the same wave length while typing. I will blame it on a senior moment.

Here's one I'm glad I got to see.
1965 or 66, Connecticut Dragway , late Fall..
Four A/FX type cars booked in for a series of match races..
Bill Flynn's 65 Dodge, Malcolm Durham's Chevelle, Sox and Martin in the Gate City Motors 65 hardtop car, and Lawton /Tasca , Mystery Nine Mustang.

It got late in the day and was getting dark, so the state policeman , who was required to be on duty during all motorsports events in Ct., called an end to the racing.
Frank Maratta, always a promoter, negotiated a four car wide hole shot contest.
The track moved all the timing equipment and what-not out of the way, and Frank himself, stood down there at about a hundred yards, to call the winner!
The Tasca Mustang, which was the smallest car, was on the tower side, the farthest away from the main grandstand. Sure enough , it was called the winner, but was hard to see by most there.

Sadly , all four of the participants have gone on to their just rewards, but they provided a memorable moment that day, for those who were lucky enough to be there.

Yes they are, and I'm certain my racing buds Dennis Alvey, Brian Pott, Rusty Hall, and Richie Pauley (amongst many others), would strongly agree with you!!!!

Especially the Boss 429 Mustang, not to downplay the other 429s. Let's not forget the 429 Cadillac, also.

What a powerful month that's coming to an end with the hp rating of the Chevy 427 L88 rated at 430hp.

However, Ford had one more dog in this fight thanks to the 430 MEL (Mercury Edsel Lincoln), that had 400hp, and was the premiere engine in the 1958 Mercury Super Marauder. "It's torque rating of 510 ft lbs is still a phenomenal number"....(circa curbsideclassic.com).

Hope y'all had a great MUSCLE MOTOR MONTH, and to those fortunate enough to race those monsters of the strip(s), count your blessings and I hope you enjoyed the annual tribute to the mills within the fender walls of your quarter-mile toys!

A great month for big engines and awesome horsepower ratings.

Let's not forget the all aluminum Can Am 430 Rat Motor. I don't remember the horsepower rating, but it was BIG.
