Doesn't that mixed signal response from NHRA indicate that there is more to this than the 'safety issue' that initially was used as a basis for the change? Why would you start talking about the function of blinders as it relates to racing if the reason for the change was purely for pit safety? I'm hearing some rumors that this had more to do with certain racers burning NHRA's ear about banning them and not a safety issue at all. I still go back to my previous question, if there was a pit incident, someone on this site must have knowledge of it?

Kind of like the AHFS BS. I think the whiners won that round! Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA

Stupidity such as that is EXACTLY what I knew would come from this rule. It's pretty funny, actually, that this rule is a "safety" issue, but "ONLY" in 1-2 classes. ROFLMFAO.

And then, when people start trying to get others a DQ, starting arguments and fights, it'll be worse than Saturday night at the podunk race track.

How sad that a supposedly relatively adult sport among friends is degenerating to such a childish level.

This rule doesn’t apply to my class but I have a brand new Simpson Super Bandit helmet. No way I’m peeling anything off. They can go pound sand. Ridiculous. Guys used to put 6 piece of wood all the way across the windshield and crazy plastic pieces attached to their helmets . I can see that but c’mon get real.

Bottom line, if the blinder was that big of an advantage EVERYONE would be using them...it was your choice! If they changed a rule for every pit accident, we wouldn't even be racing because the insurance companies (that we as participants foot the bill for) would set all of our rules.

Maybe all 7 of the current SRAC reps can chime in and give us the details of the conversations that they’ve had with NHRA authorities over the past year or 2 on the subject.[/QUOTE]

In the time I've been a SRAC rep I can't recall any previous conversation about blinders.

After taking with great racer/ friend today. If there are racers crying about a few winning with a blinder , guess what? They will still win because they are better racers. All you did was pizz them off. Careful what you wish for….

I have been considering removing my blinder for awhile now because it is apparently blocking my view of the win light in my lane.

Reminds me of a particular era when a few people were accusing Bertozzi, Biondo, and Fletcher of having a trans brake in Stock, and various other ways of cheating. What a joke.
