Re: Counterfeit Parts
Just heard from a friend who works at Summit that they’ve officially dropped Speedmaster.

Re: Counterfeit Parts
sst7250, you are right. However, for them to change company names, order new packaging, re package, re inventory, change part #'s to make them look different, is a complete, expensive pain in the azz. If we can catch them again right out of the chute, we'll aggravate them into submission. is this going away anytime soon, NO. But we can all help give them the fight of their corporate lives.

Re: Counterfeit Parts
Well, when they changed names LAST time (from Pro Comp Engineering) they were ballsy enough to leave all the part numbers with the "PCE" prefix - easy enough to spot. Packaging won't take them that long, shipping both ways will probably take longer, but they'll be back. Too much invested to let it all go away, they already know the profit margin in peddling junk.

Re: Counterfeit Parts
Has this company, and others like it, been allowed at PRI? I would hope with a reputation like this they would not be allowed in. PRI implies a level of honest that would cause people to trust them. Ray

Re: Counterfeit Parts
I worked at a parts store for a guy who'd been a funny car racer in the 60s and 70s.
There were a couple of times when we changed brands for some lines we carried. As I remember, it would come with monetary benefits from the manufacturer or the wholesaler. Once, the warehouse sent in sales reps to rebox all our parts (it was ignition that time) into the new brand's packaging. We didn't sell junk, so it was something like going from Standard to AC Delco or vice versa. So right after the change, parts made by the former company were being sold in the boxes of the other. Another time, the change was made by shipping us the boxes and paying us to change over. Considering the company has a history of doing the scammer thing and just changing names, I would not doubt this happening. Whether Summit would go along is a question, but in 2024 with MBAs ruling the world, if money was at stake I'm much less sure they'd refuse. Maybe not a thing that applies here, but a thought I had as this trainwreck developed. |
Re: Counterfeit Parts
Curious, is the SpeedMaster that presents NHRA Insider Live the same as this thread is about? Was watching the Tasca/Lohnes/Pedregon statement this morning and it shows that at the beginning of the video.
