While working in the tower for DRC, I got to know almost all of the photogs on the circuit. Norman is a great guy and one of the most respected by his peers.

A bit of truth here. Not a single photog or journalist I knew got rich - most were barely squeaking by. Because it wasn't about the money, they were there for the love of the sport and for the competitors they came to be friends with.

When you're out there on your own, or getting a pittance of money from a magazine every now and then it's tough to build up much of a Social Security fund or even save any money towards retirement. So attacking the guy who did it for all the right reasons is the lowest blow I can imagine.

Thanks Dan - I too saw how hard he worked for peanuts - we became friends and still are today .You are right - with him it was never / ever about the money .

I just received a PM from a regular daily/weekly poster here who is a stock eliminator racer and best can tell no one has an issue with him, he writes...

"I'm with you here. I don't want to kick a man while he's down, but how do you get to that age and have no one in your life that can help take care of you after you spent 50 years not planning for retirement or paying into SS? This man played a dumb game and won a dumb prize.

Wanted you to know I agree 100% and I'm surprised you've taken so much heat over this. I have no idea how so many responsible people here will dole out for someone who is this irresponsible. Racer affiliated or not."

I know the majority of those that have read this thread and my comments, too agree with me and this stock eliminator racer 100%, the views and lack of donations from racers here say all that needs to be said about this guy asking for handouts.

There are absolutely people that agree with you. The difference is they know to take the high road and express those views privately.

What you can count on is his huge ego .......but sooner or later he'll cross that line that even Ken won't be able to tolerate ( if he hasn't already ) any longer .Bet the ranch on it ! ! ! But thanks to him ( and his now no name friend - the only one with his views ) the donations keep pouring in .

don't bet on it Jack and over 4200 that have viewed this thread share my view because they too haven't donated a dollar! TRUTH and FACTS right there!

Now about that whole $100 you donated to your friend of 50 years. :D :p
