Re: Wagon Pics!
Don,
I was just a teenager at the time and I only raced around the East Texas area. We used to have Stock/Super Stock combo's at the area tracks so I'm sure you never heard of me back then. Most of my old pictures were ruined in a flooding accident. I will look for something good enough to post if I can figure out how to do it on here. Thanks! |

Jim C.! How ya been?! I am the guy from Iowa that came to look at your Nova a few years ago. We thought it may have been a Nickey car. You were very gracious and honest and I really enjoyed your hospitality, and your garage! :) Post some pics of that bad boy! :) Dave

dave seen the lead sled at meachums auction 2007 it looked as good as it did in the 70,s
as an old neita raceway participant i remember that car well along with the coaster wagon there was always a good personal in the paper after you to would meet on the track i think the larues had something to do with that then there was the 69&70 pontiac wagons that jerry stealy ran them were definatly the good days |
Re: Wagon Pics!
Jeff, thanks for your comments! I probably walked right by you at the Mecum auction a while back. I used to own this car with 2 other collectors, and bought them out over a year ago on it. I did go back to Neita Dragway this past summer and we had a blast! I took the car down the track 3 times. I also met the wrench on the car back in the day, his name is John Day. He still races there! Know of him? I guess he still has an engine shop.
JIm, I will shoot you an e-mail buddy! Mine is qcnetworks@fbcom.net Fill me in on that silver "bullet!" Dave |

Re: Wagon Pics!
Jeff, when I was at Neita he just casually introduced himself. I remember him saying he was John Day. I asked if he was the same John Day that was on my fenders and he replied Yes. I was floored. I think he was racing a dragster of some sort. NIce guy, and if he is STILL building motors, obviously he is doing something right! Hope to see you there. Sounds like you are a regular! Dave

Here are some pics of my brothers SS/Q national record holding 283 c.i. 65 Chevelle 300 Deluxe. This car set the record at Suffolk in April '74 with an elapsed time of 12.16. The next day it broke out in the first round with a run of 12.14! This car would do some monster wheelstands and I remember seeing it go up on the bumper at Miami-Hollywood Speedway Park.
Pictured l-r by the car are my brothers Phil and Paul and Paul's brother in law Pat. Mark Berg I/S 2665 |
