Ford sixes....

Back in the '70s, somebody cut up some 351 Cleveland V8 cylinder heads into pieces, and adapted three of those four pieces to a 300 Ford inline six, but I can't remember who it was. Might have been Tiffin, Ohio's Jan Reidell, or maybe Canadian Ralph Hope (Hope, Lang, and Rydell.)

Anybody else remember that? Of course, it couldn't run Modified Production; had to be classsified in as a Gas Coupe.

Ran just like a V8, of course... formidable!!!

That was Arlen Fadley in a Ford Maverick- some modified class

John,

By any chance, is this your H/SA Catalina? I shot this at Island a couple of years before I started racing myself. The name on the quarter panel is "Tomahawk".

Bill,
Sorry I took so long to reply. I missed the whole thread end.
That is (was) me in my old Pontiac. Most successful race car I ever had. Really tore things up for 3 years, won a lot of races, then decided to go SS racing. Bad mistake.

John,

I am pretty sure that particular night at "The Patch" was the only time I ever saw your car. And it was certainly the only Pontiac I can recall out of the Duffy's stable.

Running a combination like the Catalina today would surely attract attention.

At today's speeds, you would probably need the biggest Brembo brakes in their catalog to stop that bad boy, especially at "The Patch"!
