Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Good run James, I am very impressed with how your car runs. I told you that orange car was the one to watch out for, lol. I hope to be at the next gainesville race in 2 weeks.

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Thanks Jamie, most fun I've ever had getting beat pretty much side by side all the way down. I thought it was going to be close and was hoping to get the advantage at the tree but as you could see she squashed that plan. Nice people and if we could get more young drivers like her involved stock and super stock would have a bright future.
Afraid I won't make the second Gainesville and likely won't be back till Rockingham but you never know about me! |

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
In my opinion Div. 2 has gone two for two for having two very good quality races. The track hooked and the schedule was tweaked according to what the weather dictated using a common sense approach. A large part of the schedule success was do to all the racers prompt response when called to the lanes.
What a difference a director makes. |
Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Perhaps we should send the director and track operators from those two venues to Washington and give those politicos a lesson or two in how to get stuff done by working together.....

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
We pulled out of the track this morning and moved down the road to the KOA in Starke, FL. We have a very nice pull thru spot, but we ended up pulling up and dropping the trailer in the front of the site and then pulled the motorhome behind the trailer so all the hookups would reach. So we have electricity, water, sewer, cable and wifi for a week until we go back to the track for the points race next week. They are supposed to start parking next Wednesday from 4-8 for the divisional race. We will park where we will stay all the way thru the Gatornationals. We are looking forward to a nice relaxing week. It is turning cooler and lots of rain, but that's ok. Maybe it will be over by the time we get to race again.
I have a few more pics from yesterday: http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/010_5.jpg Sterling Simmons http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/008_4.jpg Jerry Silveus http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/007_4.jpg Rebel Kidd http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/006_4.jpg Monty Bogan Jr. |

Patsy and Larry, Thanks for all the pictures of the folks in short sleeves. Going down to -15 to -20 again tonight. This is really getting old.

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Well we have been here at the KOA in Starke for a couple of days now. Yesterday was laundry day:
http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/009_5.jpg The trunk of our little POS was full of 2 weeks worth of dirty laundry! So we get to the Laundromat and use up every washing machine that wasn't out of order. 7, I think. Then the change machine was broken, so Larry had to go to the bank for a roll of quarters. $20 to do laundry! Sure is nice to have that nice laundry room at home! It has been nice and quiet here, but it has rained off and on every since we have been here. Today we are going over to the track and check on some rigs and take in a movie! This retirement stuff is great! Whenever you get a chance, go up to the Class Racer Magazine and catch the article on us! Ken did a great article. Thanks, Ken. |
Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Patsy, know you miss your laundry room but always remember if you step outside it you're in the cold and snow. My aunt from Lone Oak spent a month with us culminating in a week long cruise and when I took her back last Sunday the weather was a shocker. Drive over Monteagle was beautiful but foggy but made it home safely before the latest storm came in. Know what you mean, this retirement stuff is 'rough' and catch American Sniper if you haven't already seen it. Oscars snubbed it but that's all the better, right?
And great article by Ken, he's right, you take a whole passel of folks with you on the road, including me. Thanks for all your efforts for keeping everyone in the racing loop. |
Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Larry,
While in Starke go to a restaurant named Grannys on the main drag, it has a big brama bull in the front, it is a block north of the Shell station. Good breakfast and lunch and they are die hard sports fans, you know Fl, FSU Ga etc. Then try the Western Steer up the road for all you can eat country buffet, great fried chicken. Enjoy the place, your not far from the big city of Jacksonville. Robert |
Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Great article on you guys and so true! You bring the racing to those of us who can't attend and we love you for it! Keep up the good work!

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
We have been relaxing around here and trying out some new places to eat. Robert, yesterday we tried out Grannie's:
http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/002_8.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/001_8.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/003_7.jpg Great breakfast! They had the bull tied down. I guess they were afraid someone would steal him. We then went over to Jacksonville and saw some friends that Larry used to fly model airplanes with years ago. It is always nice to see old friends. Then today I spent a little while at the doctors office to find out I probably have a torn rotator cuff. I am going to try to wait to see an orthopedist whenever I get home if I can wait that long. Then we tried a new place for lunch in Waldo: http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/010_6.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/011_6.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/012_6.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/004_7.jpg Larry had ribs and I had catfish! Great food! We will definitely try this again! http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/007_5.jpg Leftovers!! http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...2015/013_6.jpg |

Loaded up today and heading to Gainesville tomorrow. -6* this morning in Minneapolis, so I know it has to get warmer. Now if Larry can get Kentucky to keep the roads clear, it should be a good drive. Dyno

This is from the Ocola Post. Waldo, Florida — The Waldo City council voted last night to disband the Waldo Police Department effective at midnight, October 1, 2014. This means that all law enforcement functions will be assumed by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. Currently employed Waldo Police Officers will be on paid administrative leave until October 31, 2014, to give the officers time to seek alternate employment. Acting Captain Steve Maynard’s tour of duty as the interim Police Chief will end and he will resume his normal duties at the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Darnell expressed her sincere appreciation to Waldo City Manager Kim Worley for her cooperation during the last 30 days and wants residents to know that there will be no break in law enforcement coverage. The officers that blew the whistle on the corruption in the small town said it was worth losing their job because it was the right thing to do. “What we (meaning the other four officers) did was in the fabric of the oath we swore to as officers,” said Waldo Police Officer Brandon Roberts. State Attorney Bill Cervone said shutting down the agency was the right thing to do in order to avoid further embarrassment to the town. |
Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
Hey Guys!
We are back at the track! Filled up with diesel, propane, and water and pulled back into line this morning. If you are coming in today, right now Gate C is the only gate open, then go down one of the little finger roads and get in line like we normally come in at the back. Newcomers in line include Gene Jordan, Mitch Truman, and Dan Zrust. 1400 miles for Dan from Minnesota! The weather is beautiful right now. Going to be 80 this afternoon. After being so rainy and cool all week until yesterday, I am going out to enjoy the sunshine! More later! |
Re: "Live" from Down South!!!
It is another beautiful sunny Florida day here in Gainesville. It is supposed to be 85 today which is above average for now. A few more rigs have drifted in. We are going out to breakfast shortly, so I will let you know if Gate C is still the only one open.
