A few things about that '68 Hemi Dart photo now with 'Pro' on windshield...

- Those rear wheels & tires look pretty large to fit the stock wheel wheels...so did they split the wheel houses or cut the trunk floors for wheel tubs.

- Didn't someone say earlier on that your L023 had a funky looking hood scoop on it before the restoration.

- I can't make out the lettering on the door, anyone.

I don't believe there will be anything in common with this car & mine. Heavy's car being a "PRO" car will more than likely be a stick car. My car has never had a third pedal in it.
Yes, there is RUMOUR of my car having another hood scoop on it with the owner having the nickname "Two Scoop Lido", but untill I can confirm it, I'm leaving it as RUMOUR .

Liteweight: Alot of legal SS cudas and darts were raced as pro stockers at local level events with minor upgrade changes that were easy to change back for class legal SS events. At Brainerd and Mn Dragways there were novas and cudas that received larger tires and tunnel rams for the weekend to fill out a 16 car pro stock field.

Danny, nice shot of 'The Old Trapper'...

Does anyone remember which '68 Hemi Dart this one was...

I seem to remember a few people here talking about two being sold out of western Canada...

One was the Old Trapper car sold out of Chinook Chrysler...

The other one being the Demented Dart...

71) Cam Noseworthy

I am aware that these cars bounced around class to class including Mod/Prod & Pro Stock . And altho some of the mods needed to be competitive in those classes were easy to convert back to SS, changing an auto car back to an auto while leaving no traces of having a stick in it is not so easy to cover up.
Besides the obvious hole in the floor needed for shifter clearance, there needed to be a bracket welded to the DS front frame rail to support the outer clutch or Z bar pivot.
What I was trying to say in my previous post is that my car has never had the floor modified for a stick & it's never had that bracket welded to the frame either.
So, it's never had a 4 spd. or clutchflite in it.

Daryl:
My thought was for you not to pass up an opportunity to check out a car in a photo just because of the PRO on the windshield or larger tires does not make it a true PS car because I am sure some automatic equiped cars were run as a PS for local PS booked in shows that did not fill the field. I was not questioning your car because you know what you have.

Teuton dart has a good home in Kansas, if I remember correct that car was originally Joe Ralph Thompson. always a good car.

I'm not convinced there were 2 hemidarts campaigned out of Brookland Heavy's toy shop yet. I know the original S&K car was a stick car. This is the car the Mutt brothers raced both on the track & on NY streets .
Is it possible there was a second car (& it being an auto) durring the same time period. ---------Absolutely.-------- Likely----no .
I'll keep the thought on the option list tho. Until a car is accounted for & documented, I consider them all as possibilites.

As an update, I'm currently waiting on Mr Bob Frey to go through his arsenaul of information in his library that he has collected over the years. Searching for a connection to that 1977 Bracket Nationals decal

Re: Original hemi dart information

Historically, auctions are not a accurate indication of the true value on these old war horses, specially the no reserve ones. Not very many people are into these things. They have a very small following & with that, hold a very small corner in the car marketplace. Most of these things trade hands out of the public eye & never see the advertised marketplace.
BUT, it should be very interesting to see what a documented car with pedigree will bring @ auction.
The last LO car to go through an auction house( that I'm aware of) was the Canadian car, the "Demented Dart", & if memory serves my right, it sold @ $179,000.00
For my .002, I don't think it'll go over $200,000.00, because of the extensive mods, but because of the pedigree, I'll put an uneducated guess of $199,000.00 on it.

HEMIDAVE, do I get a ride if I win??
Charlie A. If we ever get a chance to meet somewhere, & I have my car with me, you've got a ride in the "HOLY SHEEEEEET" seat. I believe it's a little faster than 14.80's.It does have mufflers, & is plated.

And seriously, thanks for the offer.

As far as expense, the giggle factor is well worth the price of admission..... hehehe---Giddyup

I think Charlie A is about right on the money for the final offer. I'll post a "no sale" on a $180,000 offer. The pedigree on this one will command the value.
Hemidartdave, you wouldn't be offering a ride in a 4 speed by any chance..Mr
If you take a trip downunder Charlie A, give me a yell and I can sort you out in something pretty familiar to you guy's

I just had a cash buyer on a property I had listed.(I sell real estate). Paid above normal market value for the home with no apprasial because it was what he wanted and he could afford it.
Same things happen at auctions. Sometimes sale price is not a true reflection of the market, yet it still has an effect on it.
True Hemi Darts....there will always be value in one with an original heritage. How much will always be partially determined by what the last sale value was, the rest by desire to own and ability to purchase.
And....thanks again. Do I ever wish my real estate market could fund a trip to either offer of a ride. Canada or Down Under would be a blast for several reasons. Went to Montreal for Expo '67. Only time I ever got that far north. Beautiful !

Never forget we are on a mission here.
The heritage of Liteweight's Dart.
