Bobby,
I really meant to say, I liked the old way better. I really don't know, is faster better for the Stock Class guys now...Lots of 'Dinero" to run a car,,,though some guys are doing without hitting the kids 'college fund',,
Kind of liked the way those 57' Chevy's dominated from J/S and on down, until V/S,,where Keith Berg had the 50' Olds.;)

Paul, I used to have one of those '57 Chevy's. 210 four door hardtop. Ran F/S w/220hp & a 3 speed stick. Fit right at the top of the class (3316 shipping weight = 15.07 p/w). All the 2 drs. ran E/S and the wagons & convertibles were a least 100 lbs. heaver. Ran low 15's @ 91-92 mph and I thought I was flying.

Used to drive to the races, open the dumps, race, close them and drive back home (until we puit the 5.13 rear in).
When we started flat towing it (on the ground) I thought we were a 1st class jr. stock team.

By the way, this was back in 1963. I was a married college strudent with a kid. Could barely afford the entry fee each week. Raced for a trophy & a $25 gift certificate from Murray's Auto Supply in Miami (still in business) and had a ball.

Now I have a car 3 sec. faster, that doesn't feel nearly as fast. Go figure. I guess it's because the other cars are so much faster now.

Don't think I have as much fun as I did back then, but it still beats the heck out of fishing, hunting or golf.

Bobby,
F/Stock,,,15.00 -15.99 wt/hp a little early for me.. Sounds like M/Stock for 1968...
Back in 68' my father started racing with my mothers 67' Cuda 273/235
4-speed "Commando' fastback...J/Stock (12.50-12.99)..And just what kind of car gave my father fits, a 57' 283/270HP dual-quad wagon,,I think Beauville. Damn thing with a 3-speed on the column too..My father could hold him off, until the last 200 feet, when the dual-quads kicked in.
14.80's @ 93MPH. DAMN THAT WAS FUN!!!
Hey,,68' Winternationals,,John Barkley, 57' Chevy M/SA 14.59...
See I did my HOMEWORK!
