Re: Live from the NHRA 50th Winternationals

Well its Saturday night and instead of going out I've decided to just grab a sandwich and head back to my room to rest up and just recharge my batteries .The last few years of racing have shown me that I'm no kid anymore but I still love to do this and I'm certainly not ready for the porch yet .That being said I've got to reflect on what's going on -- here I am at the 50th Edition Winters and competing at a level that dreams are made of . I can't tell you how lucky I'm feeling just being here with all the hoopla -- not to mention I have a poll going on ( and I'm starting to feel like a rock star - hope my helmet still fits ) and 50% of you think I've got a chance next round -- hope I can live up to all the hype .

Before I forget I must thank those of you who have approached me this week and thanked me for doing this writing -- you guys and gals have it all wrong -- I'm the one who should be thanking you as you have no idea how much I enjoy doing it -- just the same I've got a kick out of meeting you folks in person - putting a face with a name is terrific -- keep it up - please .

When I wake up tomorrow morning somebody please come by and pinch me - just to let me know its not a dream .............and Ladies -- Happy Valentines Day ! ! !

And then there were ten ..................

As I sit here in my hotel room at the Holiday Inn Express near Baltimore/Washington Int. waiting for my flight tomorrow, I must say I've never hated snow as much as I do now. Yesterdays paper: over 1,000,000 stranded passenger and 15,000 cancelled/delayed flights...I was lucky to be one of them. Oh well, anyway, good luck, Jack. I know your race with Brad will be a good one. I just wish I could be there to watch it firsthand. It looks like 2010 is off to a grand start and I hope it continues to be fun and fulfilling for you!

Came in early this morning and am I glad -- for the 50th the NHRA brought in 50 restored Woodies and parked them in the staging lanes -- later to be paraded down the track - what a sight ................and don't send me any hate mail about getting a tan .

Good luck today, Jack!

I have hundreds of pictures I will post later, but I am in Las Vegas now and it will not be a hard choice as to what to do - stay in hotel room and post pics or enjoy the sights/sounds/smells of the Strip . . . .
