Re: DRC Commentary
Nascar let Danica Patrick race in Nascar, so why not let Kurt Busch race in NHRA. I'm sure he not going to get the Media Coverage like she did. And I can understand the grade thing and parking. Just my 2 cents.

Re: DRC Commentary
I wonder what the "media blitz" will have to say after he gets his *** handed to him first round? Jim

Re: DRC Commentary
Ha, But you might see a bunch of Nascar drivers at the strip when they introduce the new Ledgends Drag circuit at Z-Maxx a little later on down the road....just wait to see the media splash NHRA gives them....kinda makes you wonder, no??? WJ

Re: DRC Commentary
Dump the gradepoints, go back to class eliminators with each class finalist running the shoe polish eliminator on Sunday. I seem to recall the stands being filled in the late 70s - early 80s during class runoffs at the Winters and Gators, spectators even standing up as each pair went down the track. Seems NHRA screwed up royally dumping Modified. Wasn't a guy named Dallas Gardner, a well known bean counter involved with that decision? I'll never forget the sell "dwindling carcounts, this new eliminator will breathe life back into the sportsman ranks while the spectators will enjoy it just as much". Hmmmmm.....does imaginary or invisible people count as spectators? I bet they love to come out and watch sportsmen at 0'dark hundred too, unlike the midday during those old days.. Oh well, what's the difference anyway, all sportsman racing is the same.

Re: DRC Commentary
very interesting post. i for one think it is a good thing letting kurt busch in to race. i will be there first round, laughing my ***** off at all the super gassers wrecking getting behind him, just like in bracket racing. my girlfriend did not want to go at first, then i mentioned kurt was going to be there, now is counting the days on the calender. he's her favorite beer, i mean driver in nascar. i don't like the grading point system myself, but think about it, if the system was eliminated, then the racers chasing a world championship might miss a race if all the locals just went to their closest national event. answer me honestly guys, would you only go to national events if there was no grading points? i for one as a specator, chose divisionals over nationals. why? because of the sportsmen racers, they are, and will always be the backbone of drag racing. at a early age some of the people i looked up to were stock and super stock racers, lee and linda sherman are just two of them. hell if scott helms wasn't going this year, i'd skip it altogether. i'll be there, just look for the fool sitting in the stands when stock and super stock are running.

I stand corrected
Thank-you Bob Rick |
Re: DRC Commentary
What the??? Do you mean to tell me the ultra-saturation coverage of drag racing, better known as John Force and friends, isn't working? Why, that's inconceivable! I doubt the media coverage of Kurt Busch at Gainesville will make a blip on the radar screen. Maybe if George W. Bush entered an N/IHRA race, that might generate some TV time for drag racing. I'm pretty sure Kurt will be on NHRA Today though.
One other thing. I'll bet "all" the non-racing media types that do show up will think Busch has the race in the bag when his opponent goes on the stop, and he's swooshing on down track into the lead............momentarily. Should be fun! |
Re: DRC Commentary
Wait and see what happens when Busch stops on the track after a Red Light. JB
