Wow, and I thought my brothers 1958 283 Chevy IHRA production SS/JA Yeoman wagon was a tank at 3839 lol. It got open trailered all over the south behind a C-30 454 Chevy.

I remember a long time ago talking to a guy at Bristol that ran a Fairlane wagon in B/Stock with a 427 and a stick. It was baby blue and looked just like my Moms grocery getter. He said he was trying to get an axle company to use him as proof of the quality of their product but no one would guarantee axles for him.

We had a few locals here in East Texas/SW Ar/NW LA. That ran heavy combos. There was a guy out of Shreveport that ran a late 60's Black Biscayne with a BBC in it. I think his name was Sammy?? saw him a lot in Shreveport and Haynesville La.
Racing over at Hallsville, Whitehouse and I-20 there was the Big Pontiac of Hays Adkinson.
Howard Stainfield had a 283 powered Chevelle wagon that was no lite weight.

How about a G/S '62 Impala station wagon, 380 horse 409, made the 11 pound weight break. Probably would break every thing else, as well. Also, how about a '66 Impala 9 passenger wagon, 283/220 horse in T/SA,4350 with driver. No problem hooking that one up anywhere.

Greg, It's "only" 4236 now..Rocket ship!
I ran mine at 4130 with a Muncie 4 speed.
I never tried trailering it, and wouldn't want to .
Cross country on a C30 flatbed..No problem.

Speaking of breaking, a friend way back in the day had a 64 409-425 Maroon Impala. He picked every junkyard within 100 miles for rears and half shafts, bought two or three of each when he went looking. This was on skinny tires of the day

its too bad NHRA won`t help them with horsepower, and they are just about obsolete.I can`t imagine there are enough people who have interest in building them, for it to be a problem. Its a shame. Ray runs the nostalgia series and has fun.

That white '62 is cool, but it has the dual 4 barrel 409 horse engine in it. Must be refactored to get it into G. The 380 horse I was thinking about was the single four barrel hi po engine released in '62 only. 63-65 engines were red at 400 horse at the factory, but the 62 380 was the same engine.

How 'bout a 68 Caprice Estate wagon with a 427/425 horse? What class does that monstrous thing fit and what does it weigh?
