WHICH buddy, I got lotsa friends....... I think :-)

I think you need to take bais out of some or your opinions. No one here has ever towed with the new 2011 1/2 tons.

Jeff, with all do respect, new is better, not a little ......... a whole lot ! Just a 5 year old truck is obsolete compared to the new stuff. Would you rather tow with a 1990 1 ton or a 2011?

Bob, I know you posted this topic for expert advice, but in my opinion they are based on bias, not fact.

I think the new trucks are great and would definitely purchase one as a dual purpose vehicle.

HEY ! ! ! !

I tow with a 1990 1 ton. But, I would rather tow with a 2011.

Buy what you want!

Like many of us old guys I've flat towed, used a stationwagon, 1/2 ton Chevy with a 350, 1 ton Ford diesel and two 1 ton Dodges. I prefer the Cummins in the Dodge mainly because that engine was designed, I prefer the dual wheels for stability and most important......I'm a Mopar guy.

I travel alot between Fl and Tx and most of the HD trucks I see towing commercial loads have been mainly Dodges and Fords.

Buy the truck you want because you'll never get a consensus from us.

I have never towed an enclosed trailer with a single wheel truck, but I have talked to a few people who have. I have towed an open trailer with a Suburban though.

It seems to me that a dually would be a LOT more stable when towing. Especially when an 18 wheeler goes blowing by you at 80 MPH or taking a curve in windy conditions as Larry Hill pointed out or even going down a steep hill.

I have always told myself if I'm going to tow something -- even a travel trailer, I'm going to be towing it with a dually.

Towing, the pedal is only a 1/2 inch off idle at highway speed. Change the oil and filter regular and just drive it. 160k and replaced the brake pads one time, the tires one time. My wife ask me the other day if I wanted to get a new truck..(she just got a new hybrib something or another)....I said "if I thought for a minute, I could get one as good as this....I might"

My 2010 Corvette gets 29.8 at 80-85 MPH on Rt 95. 30-33 when driving like a sane person. Dosent say much for a Jag.....LOL.

My wife's old '99 Lexus LS400 gets 28 at 80/85 MPH. I would expect a Jag to do that?

Bob...are you only interested in the V6 eco-boost? Thought I saw commercial about new 5.4 eco-boost as well which really intrigued me. Larger truck, good power, maybe slightly less mileage, but good compromise if fuel prices jump?
