Mike got this car because he wanted to prove he could get the national record with a Slant 6. He holds it now, and had it for awhile a couple years ago too. He was also Div. 5 Aeromotive Low Qualifier for 2011. He races with a bunch from his area and they all have a ball.

I love that car. I've been a slant six guy since my dad bracket raced a high 15 second 65 Dart in the mid 70s. I do know slant sixes are difficult to make power with, and I believe Mike had to get a bit of horsepower taken away from his combo to become competitive.

If I stuck to that standard then I would have to quit racing.

Yes he did, but he's done well enough to get it all back too. The car will still run .95 under on a really good day.

SS/PA = 12.65 index (traditional Super Stockers)
SS/GS = 13.85 index

So I guess a 13.85 is as slow as a SS can go ?

Yes it is. In IHRA the index is 14.35 same rules and weight break.
I've run the SS/PA index (in front of NHRA)
