Re: "Live From" Z Max Four Wide Charlotte, N.C
Good morning from the final day at the Z Max Dragway. Its another cool morning with temps in the upper 40's going up to the mid 60's. The sportsmen will have to wait for one round of the pros starting at noon before the we resume eliminations.
I am sure the internet will be as slow as it has been when the fans starting coming in. This will most likely me my last report until early this evening. In Stock it looks like Bubba Linke will have a heads up with Jeff Adkinson in C/SA. The race will very likely trigger hp in their respective combo's. The CC COPO's triggered their combo a few times this weekend, its tough with this kind of weather not to. Super Stock has no heads up for their third round and like Stock has four rounds of competition left. |

No problem guys, I wish I could get to more races. I left the track about 3 hours ago and pulled over for the last report.
As usual I had a great time. The weather was great and I went a few round, what more could you ask for. I can't understand why there is not more cars at this race, it is hands down the nicest race track I have ever been to. If anyone is on the fence about coming here, you should definitely put in on your list of races to attend. I hope everyone enjoyed the reports, photos and videos. I am sure there are things that I have missed here at Z Max, but I never seem to have enough time to get it all done. The photo is a shot of the pits around 3 pm Sunday, as you can see they have thinned out. It always makes me kind of sad to say good by to everyone and see the pits empty out. Just a day and a half ago the pits were filled with racers and fans and now its all over. The prep time, getting everything ready, setting up your rig and pit spot, getting your car ready, running around to tech, meeting all your friends, working on you car, hunting for parts. I made rush then you race, and then its done. For me it goes to fast, for some others its to long. I just know when it ends, I feel a little empty and can't wait until the next one. Congrats to Brian Rowe, a very nice young man with an equally nice family, I am very happy for them all. Also a nice job by Chuck Gallagher , Brian and Chuck's driving was amazing. I wish I could be half as good as they were today, nice job guys ! See you all at the next live from, I will be at the Atco open in New Jersey this week. It’s always a fast track and there should be lots of records set. |

Above all stay well. MB |
Re: "Live From" Z Max Four Wide Charlotte, N.C
Ken I want to thank you again. This is the first time I've stayed for the entire weekend of an NHRA event. I still had a hard time doing everything I wanted to do. I enjoy meeting and hanging out with different racers and friends and there still wasn't enough time to do that and video the races too. But this was an amazing facility and I too am surprised the car count isn't higher. One of my Top Dragster friends I was talking too after the race today was let's say displeased there wasn't a full field in his class, bring em out and race! Maybe next race I can actually spend some more time hanging out with you as well Ken. I'll see you in Maple Grove next. Safe travels.

Re: "Live From" Z Max Four Wide Charlotte, N.C
I don't know for sure why more SC/NC racers don't go to the Charlotte races, but part of it may be that racers along the I-95 corridor and east of it have to travel about 400 plus miles to go to any other NHRA races with the VMP div 1 race being the lone exception. From Raleigh NC to Atlanta it's 400 miles, to Bristol it's probably 300 or so with lots of hills-probably takes as much time to go to Bristol as it does to Atlanta when towing.
The only NHRA divisional race in NC over the last 10 years or so I recall was t Charlotte when a hurricane or tropical storm was blowing through the state and the car count was way down.....supposedly the Zmax folks weren't too happy about the alky cars but since then NHRA has made them a regional series. I'd also consider that there are about 38 tracks within a 4 hour drive from Raleigh, lots of bracket races to pick from and of course IHRA div 9 and some of div 2 is close by-and those races are a weekend deal, no need to take of from work and etc.... it isn't all that unusual to see or hear of guys running in 2 or 3 points series around these parts. Lots of other options for racers around here. |
