Herb,
Which Beard won? The one having a real good day or the one having a so-so day, but still holding a mulligan? :~)

Put up or shut up, we don't care you go 128 60 foot at 3800 lbs and Beard had a bad weekend in PA. Here is what I do know, I paid Beard's entry once in a 10K race, at Bristol, and he ran hisself in the finals.

Herb...

1. as piedmont's track manager, your post doesn't say much about your professionalism and calls into question what should be your unbiased decision making should an issue arise between pairings, the ladder, bye runs, etc.

2. no where in my post did I state I am "so good on the bottom"

3. I'm a bracket racer, not a grudge racer. We don't race best of anything, we race each round to eliminate except in North Carolina where there is no tech inspection and where you can buyback until you run out of $ and if you're "lucky" enough to hold the "mulligan" that's drawn, they'll put you back in the race late in the rounds.

4. my comment about beard's bad day was to show he's human too as beard never misses and opportunity to tell everyone how good he is even in this thread about alleged NHRA inspections for cheating in super stock, stating his every round reaction times of his good weekend.

5. I have supported beard's thanksgiving race in the past as well yours and had every intention of supporting it again this year with a double entry, being that it's back at piedmont which is a far better facility than that dump known as cpd, but based on your comments above, and questionable unbiased decision making skills as the manager, I'll pass and I'll be sure to let my friends know who were on the fence why I am not going.

6. when/if beard shows up again at numidia, I'll make every effort to line up with him and based on his comments, his car will help me to facilitate his out of here in 10 minutes routine.;) Better yet, my kid could run him.

7. that all said, why make this about beard when you have made it about you and me so here's what I'm thinking...no time shots, no buybacks, no mulligans, no best of 7! You line up against me, put a number the window, 1 time,1 round in a legal/no electronics, footbrake launched door car and we bracket race. Both cars are inspected immediately after turning off the track by the track manager and you/I. Race and inspection will be video'd. The loser donates $5,000 within 48 hours to the winner's legit, incorporated, nationally known charity. The track chosen will be halfway between us. Hell you even get a tax deduction. So put up or shut up!

8. BTW, I'm with you, I don't care about the car that you witnessed run 1.28 60 foot in 2007 that I sold 5 years ago, that a another poster felt compelled to talk about in this thread. My current ride is far more impressive and 60 foots as quick as 1.17! :D

Perhaps Mr. Finch and Mr. Reese will be at Vegas...

And I'd like to further suggest that in addition to the random drug testing program, perhaps NHRA should consider instituting some form of mental health screening as a condition of participation...

I know you also mentioned this on Facebook, but the fact remains that almost all of the results of the races are on Drag Race Central.

I have yet to see anybody that wins a lot of races that never redlights.

I don't think very many people win more than Dan Fletcher and he actually redlighted in TWO National event finals this year. (STILL won them both!)

Since when is not redlighting a requirement for winning?

Its okay to redlight, just don't do it first.

The mental health screen would take away most racers. I've always said "who in their right mind would do this"

I agree with Tim about the mental health.
Testing for mental health might "Thin the Herd".
Drag Racing is actually a type of Drug addiction.
I would like to say that in rebutal to Don's aligations of cheating:
To some, cheating is just part of "The Game"

We laugh at the old Jr Johnson stories, we revere Smokey Yunick's scale model Chevelle yet we take offence at nitrous in Pro Stock and Matty boxes....maybe not an exact comparison, but makes one go hmmmm

Basically we are all in control of an individual race at a particular time, as my package is vs. the package in the other lane. Over the course of a season electronics probably has an advantage, but for the local Sportsman, at a singular moment, it is in his control. Certainly fear and/or respect seems to precipitate more red lights against the "heros"; again you are in control of your response to who is in the other lane

Sometimes I think a similar process should be a prerequisite to qualify for participation on this forum.

Apologies to those, (including myself), who suffer from bouts of temporary insanity. :p
