Apparently, my 2or 3 year old belts that have never experianced any impact loads are not safe anymore in NHRAs eyes, but are just fine for a roundy round racer.

X10 ten four on that our used expired cam lock belts bring $100+ from the local dirt or short track dizzy racers, :) Cam locks to them are such a luxury item they'll pay a little more most latch locks bring $50-$75 clams tops

In regard to the life of the belts (2 yrs) that was not mandated by NHRA but rather the manufactures themselves by vote.

As I was told, by reliable source........

Do you think that there is never the possibility that you might get hit by the car in the other lane. It doesn't have to be a AAA stocker. An A stock 69 Camaro is going a lot faster than you are. Keep using that stock seat belt. Apparently your life isn't worth that 100 dollar five point harness. I do think the 2 year rule is ridiculous, but I'm still going to try and be as safe as I can be.

Chuck, I don't disagree with what your saying. My point is the situation has been made a lot worse by allowing 8 second 150 mph cars in stock on 9" tires.

If you were a mfg. would you rather sell new belts every 2 years, or every 5 years, lol.

Do any of you get your belts recertified (and if so, where), or do you simply replace them?

Rick

They want to sell more belts, or re-certs. Gotta generate revenue.

I was running the Dallas pts. meet this year. I.m running U/SA and I was paired with Fred Henson's mustang 1st round (14.52 vrs 8.95 dial) .When he cameb y me at 150mph it literally blew a piece of trim off the back of the Monte Carlo. The more I thought about it the more it bugged me . The Monte Carlo now has a roll bar in it.Whether it makes a lot of difference or not I hope I don.t have to find out , but I'll feel better the next time I'm in the car.

I run RCI belts. They include a certificate with the first purchase for a free 2nd set at 2 years.

Crow you name I've wore them out.. the rule is in place to take the liability off of the poor tech guy that just let your 10 year old belts pass tech, when you get seriously injured in an accident.. You people complaining that you don't want to replace them every 2 year would be the first ones in line to sue when the belt failed in an accident..

Brad

Brad , I'm curous how did you wear them out? The latch or the webbing? All brands?

Thanks.
