Boy there sure is a lot of negative feelings here, it's a wonder anyone attends a race. Me I'd love a 2 day divisional, no days off work which in reality doesn't save me money but allows me to make money for 1 more day. however here in Div. 3 the car counts would prohibit such a deal.

If I remember correctly, Fontana does not have lights for night racing. If that is still that way, It makes thing problematical for finishing the race, what if there are any lengthy delays.....

When I was at the Open they did have lights spread out all over the place including the track looked like LED banks on trailers with solar panels...........I actually like the two day race but that's me when, I hate burning up vacation time if I don't need to. Everyone that has commented has valid points the extra day is great if you have problems at the track I assume that we get three hits on Saturday? As far as delays we all know how that works you loss the last qualifier on Saturday and if Sunday runs on you finish somewhere else and/or another date

I don't have any 'negative feelings' and it sure isn't going to affect whether I race or not but I don't appreciate someone 'enhancing' the schedule and then having the gall to tell me that they are doing me a favor.

Two things that have to be taken into consideration about Div 6 &7; the tracks are significantly spread out, 4 hours is a short tow, 8-12 is more common and 20+ hours is a possibility. Also, it rains a lot out here, we're going to have a lot more rainouts when we only have one day for qualifying and no options to catch up. Now your 2 day divisional turns into and added weekend plus the travel time, how's that for enhancing your schedule?

Like Jim said, the tracks on the West coast are pretty spread out. I live near Vancouver BC Canada, about an hour from Mission Raceway, Pacific and Bremerton are 3 1/2-4 hours away each, Woodburn Oregon is about 6 1/2 hours, Boise ID is about 12 hours. Here in Div. 6, the Seattle National event , at 3 1/2 hours is not too bad, BUT, my next "closest" National event is Sonoma CA, about 20 hours 1 way. If a Div 6 racer wants to get his allotted quota of Nat`l events, he either has to travel to California, Arizona, and Nevada twice, early and late in the season. Thats a lot of travel time and days off, not to mention fuel costs.
By comparison, I recently spent 8 days in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. In that short tme, I visited 5 drag strips (Maple Grove, Beaver Springs,Numidia, Atco, and South Mountain), all within about 2 hours of each other. And a racer told me that if you allowed a 3 hour tow, there were 2 more tracks nearby! Envious, you bet!

Joe, nobody has to take off work to show up on Friday at three day races. We have guys show up Saturday mornings.

What I was told was that the NHRA workers did not want to put in that many days.
Too hard on them.
