Re: So, Indy 2020...

So i counted 44 different classes for this years Indy.
Factory Stock had 3 classes (FSH, FSJ & FSK) all with 1 car in class.
O/S, R/S, T/S, U/S & W/S all with 1 car in class.
So if you took class winners, that would be 38 total. 36 plus 2 winners out of
the combo class. So you still have 90 spots for the top qualifiers.

Out of the cars with only 1 car in class, only 3 cars didn’t qualify so far per tech.

So I think you should take class winners First than fill the field with top qualifiers.

And that would allow racecars that ONLY run .90 under the index the opportunity to enter, run, win class and race the eliminator.

The problem is that NHRA doesn't want us there.

Only 3 more years and you would only have Ford and Dodge in the FS mix for new cars. After 2023 the Camaro is dust in the wind...

But not the problems or real work they would have to do with Stock & Super Stock.....

They would just increase the quotes on the classes that are not labor intensive and get the cheapest labor they could find.

Don't forget that they could still reduce the parking staff another 50%, because

WE ARE THE NHRA AND WE DON'T CARE

This will be their new motto after Dedicated to Safety is removed from the logos

I am trying to be PC...

It could happen

The EFI guys complain about the Factory Stock cars.
It's called progress and it's inevitable. And believe me, I absolutely love the fact that there are so many cool old cars still racing in Stock.

But everything up to the FS cars came with a VIN number and could (at least most of them) be bought of the showroom floor.

Likely a dumb question, but having never raced at a national event that had more cars registered to compete than there were spots available, like Indy, if you are one of the 30 or so cars qualified below number 128, do you get your entry fee back, or is that considered a contribution to the NHRA executives Christmas Party? Also, if one of the qualified 128 cars is broken before first round, and can not make it to the staging lanes, do they install the first available alternate to race the broken cars opponent, or does that car get a single?

.....just looked at the Sunday schedule, & noticed they are having "Gassers" and "Street Car Showdown" classes. Is this some new form of sideshow attraction? I would have thought if any NHRA National Event had time or room for such antics, INDY would not be that place.

Back to back 128 car classes at the scales to start your morning off right - maybe they will only weigh heads up races

Today - I would Eliminate these non-standard classes -

Street Car Showdown
Gassers
Pro Mod T

Yes Rory, it is. The dogs and ponys are in ring number two.

Didn't you get you're invite to the "executive's Christmas Party"? I'm sure it's in the mail!
