This is shaping up as a great race, and it is great that stock and super stock are included. I am disappointed that there will not be any heads up in the race, but all the pluses outweigh that . Maybe next year

It will be on Floracing which I bought a subscription to last year at the urging of a close friend who makes his living building asphalt and dirt stock car engines. It surprised me how good of a job Flo does, I don't watch it much, but I have watched some of the lead up stories to this event and they are great. They just did an interview with Greg Andersen and it is great material. Flo is more expensive than NHRA tv, but I see you can buy a month if you want to try it out for this event.

Seems that some are concerned about who is invited , it is their sandbox and they can invite whoever they want and that is OK with me. Good luck to all

I may have missed it, but is there a list of "invited" competitors? Or do only 'they' know, or is it a big secret? Inquiring minds......

https://superstarshootout.com/lineup/

It only mentions the list for TF, FC, and PS. I'm sure those in TS, SS & Stock who are invited were asked to keep it confidential.

I can't wait to go watch this in person.

On the contrary. If Elite decided it was done with NHRA I believe PS would get even bigger. It would then give the other engine builders their time to shine and allow more competition.

Last year at Indy I was waiting at the credential trailer and up walks EE. I point blank asked her if the Elite engines were really $175k. She said they have about $140k in parts & labor alone in each engine. Then add the transmission and the chassis plus the $15k suspension and you just have to stop counting at some point.

I was excited to watch as I thought this race was going to be an "Allstar Race" for S/SS, from what I heard the racers invited is like a Popularity Invite.

Well I wasn't invited to this event (probably didn't have my correct email address) Congratulations to all that will be participating and know you will be representing all of us. Hopefully the promoters and the race fans will be impressed with what they see,and maybe we will have more opportunities outside the NHRA sanctioned events.
Good luck to all.

I've had that happen a couple times. Yes,we believe shoe polish is a necessity. But I for one am hoping trends aren't getting started that is going to quickly send the sport downhill. Next thing will be Full Time 1/8 mile races at 1/4 mile tracks like the bracket racer's do. And they LOVE it. You gonna love that too?

Not all bracket racers love the half track (1/8 on a 1/4).......some of us still pack a pair.

I support all S/SS associations and how they are run. However you might want to look at Midwest Class Racers for success. We are beginning our 19th season.9 race weekends on the schedule this season. All have 2 separate races, and purses. Car counts as high as 92 last season. Qualifying is used to pair cars for first round. Heads up for cars in the same class and they are weighed. Purse is always 2k to win and 5K at some events. Payout goes all the way to first round winner,100 dollars. looking at the numbers, I think MCR may be the largest and most successful S/SS association and we use NHRA rules.
