Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Sorry I have not been on here all day, but it has been very busy.
After we broke our Pro-trans this morning, Larry went by and talked to Greg Smith and he said he could take it back with him to fix. So Larry gets ready to pull the trans here in the rocks by the trailer and Sid came by and said we could pull it up to Jeff Teuton's trailer with a hoist to pull it. So that is what we have been doing this afternoon. And then he went ahead and put our spare in so we can go to Earlville next week. We just had an interesting visit from NHRA security saying "Anonymous" person had complained about our taking pictures here. The only person who asked us not to take a picture of his car (because he had dry ice on it) was Jimmy Defrank. And we did not take a picture of his car. The pictures that were taken in teardown yesterday of the engine parts were of the Mustangs and Brent Hajek asked Larry to take the pictures to show everyone how stock they were. The other pictures in teardown were from the back so we could get the car number to figure out who it was. I took some this morning, but I haven't had time to post them yet. We would never take pictures of anybody's engine, just like we wouldn't want anyone taking pictures of ours. Please let me know if you do not want to have your picture taken, and we will not take it. I really thought people enjoyed seeing these pictures or I wouldn't take the time and effort to do it. Mr "Anonymous", I guess if I was cheating I wouldn't want my picture taken either. More later. We are packing up so we can leave out early in the morning. You know some of the Division 7 guys are really nice and I enjoy seeing them each year, but then those guys that get all the special treatment I don't care to ever see again. Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Your pictures are very much appreciated and enjoyed by me, I cant speak for others, I have no dog in the hunt.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Larry & Patsy, thanks for your 'fantastic' Indy coverage, pictures and all

I have always been a big fan of Jimmy Defrank. He along with Jody Lang, Mark Faul and Dan Fletcher are my inspiration for racing in class. Those guys are my heroes. When Jimmy first started racing in comp, I thought it was so cool to see a good driver whooping up on those guys. This stuff with the pictures is silly. If Defranks were the anonymous people it's pretty cheesy they can't just come up and say it to you themselves. Unless they have a good reason for being so secretive, you can cross one of those people off of my list of heroes... What do these guys have to hide? |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Larry and Patsy (and Chris). I think I speak for everyone as far as how much we love your Live updates, photos, stories, etc (as well as Jack Matyas and others reports) from the races. I also think I speak for everyone that we look forward to the annual Live From Indy thread each year more than any other (208 posts and 75,325 views!). Thank you very much, I'm sure we all appreciate the info, for those that can't make it to Indy, or any race, you're at. Thanks again.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
I second that Mike those reports and pictures are great. Thanks Patsy.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Once again, I just want to say "THANK YOU" Larry & Patsy and Tom Sheehan for the effort you guys put into posting the pictures and giving us all the details of the day from the races you attend.
I find myself thinking sometimes that a few years ago we would have to wait weeks to read just a fraction of this information in the pages of National Dragster. Now we are able to know about what happens just hours, and sometimes minutes after it has happened. Thanks again. I for one really appreciate it. Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D RIP Mark Graham |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
I second and third all that. Us west coasters really appreciate what you do.
You didn't try to take a picture of someone in their underwear did you? That could be embarrasing. LOL> |

Larry & Pasty THANKS! for all the pics & updates! You can take pics of my junk any time ya want ;)

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
BOB ? When I first read your post ,my first thought was to blow it off as just a cheap shot. That was several hours ago , but the more I think about it, something needs to be said! You post on here with no last name or NHRA or IHRA # and take a CHEAP SHOT at Rick and RWR . So could we have your name and an explanation as to why you would take a CHEAP SHOT at them.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
I too, want to say thanks for all the pictures and reports you provide us with, from up here in Ontario Canada.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Count me as one of those Div 7 guys you do not like.
I can not hold back any longer. I do not care if people take picutres of my stuff because I do not have anything to hide. You on the other hand do not want people to take pictures of your stuff, very strange. Perhaps in the heat of getting ready to run an important round the Defranks just did not want the bother or distraction. And just what place was it of yours to go an official - you did not have anything to do with their up coming round. Or do you normally just walk around as an NHRA rules watch dog to make sure they do not miss anything. Keep your nose in your own business. And get off of the dry ice thing, it is not illegal. And I am fed up with you saying that the Defranks are cheating. Ok you east coast guys unload all you want. Out here in Div 7 we are use to the west coast bashing that goes on, here on this website. Have a very nice day. |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
back home, hey Patsy, maybe they didn't like the picture of me on there, lol
my thought on the 2009 US Nationals, it was simply a blood bath in qualifying in SS & Stock, so many 1000 ft runs! myself and other never dreamed the bump would get where they are, and my other thoughts on "things" that happened there over the weekend I'll keep to myself, lol Stats should be interesting to work on this week for sure. |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
The pictures and updates are appreciated but the personal attacks aren't.
|
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Well put, Jimmy. A agree. I have done the picture thing before and know just how much work goes into it. So thanks for your efforts.
|
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Larry & Patsy, thank you for the pictures. It is a lot work especially while trying to win a race. Have a safe trip home and good luck the rest of the year.
P.S. Larry I was at a Hooka Bar (lol) |

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Larry and Patsy-- Thank you for your coverage of not just the institution that's Indy, but all the photos and coverage of your travels/It helps keep it interesting. Too bad some of the scuttlebutt gets so negative, but that's people at large. Thanks for the photos and the frequent postings. Come out to Pomona some time and we'll meet face to face. That's all, thanks again.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Larry and Patsy, You are doing a GREAT job. When I can't be there, I check back dozens of times to see if you (or Tom S) have posted anything new, and I'm a .90 girl! Thanks again!

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Patsy Hill:
As always, the Live from where ever is a welcome addition to any other reporting one may find on the NET. Drag Race Central ETC included... I too was surprised only minutes prior to class eliminations that I was selected to be drug tested and given the neccessary paper work and the reporting location. After class I went to the trailer for testing. Five bottles of water and 2 hours later I was finished! It may have been a little of a distraction. But that's another story. As far as the pictures go, some people would cry if they were hung with a NEW ROPE! Keep on taking pictures and reporting. I know the majority of the racers love it. Thanks, Duzac and Peterson D/S 4448 |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
larry and patsy keep on reporting its great to have someone that puts in so much effort

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Larry and Patsy,
Thanks for doing what you do. Don't let any of the negative whiners stop you from doing this again. You guys do us all a great service. |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Well, we are back home now and have all the dirty clothes unloaded and ready to wash up again, so we can head out to Earlville this week. I have a great time at the races, but it is always good to get back home and see my granddaughters.
We woke up this morning to the sound of raindrops on our roof at about 5:45. Since we were all packed up ready to leave this morning anyway, we got out of there before we were stuck. Where we were parked was really soft and we sure didn't want to have to be pulled out. Oh, a note from last night, I was talking to a friend of Sam Murray's who is from Maine. (I'm sorry but I forgot his name.) He said that on Saturday morning was the first time he had been called up to race while the moon was still up. With Indy being at the western part of the eastern time zone, it was still dark when stock was getting ready to run. Well, hopefully we will be back on the road by Thursday to do some more racing and reporting. Earlville and Belle Rose are our favorite races. We are looking forward to seeing our Division 5 friends and probably a few from Div. 3 also. I imagine Steve Koppein will be there so we can congratulate him on his Brainerd win in person. Later. Patsy & Larry And thanks for all your thanks. |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
What a great week, the weather was great until today. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones. Congrates Jamie Findell on you class win in F/SA. Don Bales, the chicken was wonderful, Darryl Marvel the steaks were great. Paul Boster hope you get to feeling better. On another note, Tim Bishop got the shaft in tear down .. you are a first class guy. Steve Wann, I don't know of any other racer that has lost more close races than you here at Indy .. you definitely bring out the best in everyone you race. Have a safe trip home. Can't wait till next year ... great job Patsy ...

Larry&Patsy thanks for the reports. Debbie thought it was a good time to take a caribbean cruise.Tom&Debbie Reese

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Tom and Debbie,
Hope you had a great cruise! Guess we will see you in Columbus at the Sportsnationals. I wanted to let you know about what some fellow racers did for some spectators this weekend. Bill and Donna Sempscrott were down at our pits talking to Larry and some spectators were there and wanting to get to their car which was on the other side of the racetrack. Bill and Donna took them back around to that side. You can't get across at the big end where were so that went all the way back up thru staging and across. Thanks Bill and Donna. I know they really appreciated your kindness. One complaint I have for Indianapolis Raceway Park. They need to find a radio station to broadcast the race that will come in better. Or put some speakers all the way down to the end of the property. If you were parked past the bowl you couldn't get the radio station to come in. We never knew when stock was called up until they came by on the scooters honking the horn. I usually listen to the race rather than going up and watching all the time. I never knew what was going on without being in the stands. Something really needs to be done about this by next year. |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
To the Hills,
Thank you so much for the photos and the updates. I myself have never had the chance to make Indy either as a spectator or racer. With your posts it's almost like being there. I know Sam Murry from the F/S Olds days. Could the guy from Maine been Bob Lettellier(SP)? I know Jim Boudreau from the Gold Digger days and own the wagon that he bought from W A Lee. Jim is a great guy as is Sam. I am in the process of redoing the wagon to a 2bbl as Jim said it will go further under the index than it does with a 4bbl. Money is why it's not racing now. Again thank you so much for the "Live" reports and sorry to hear the tranny broke. Good luck the rest of the year and keep those Live reports coming. Phil Daly KSA 1686 (soon to be QSA 1686):D |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
The guy from Maine was named Bob, I think. He was very soft-spoken and I am terrible with names. Jim Boudreau (Mr. Ficacci, I finally learned how to spell his name) was very nice and didn't say anything about us taking his pictures while he was cooling his car for class.
Hopefully all of you can come to Indy next year and have as great a time as we did. Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Everyone, thanks for the kind words. Larry and Patsy it was great to meet and talk with you and put faces on the names. The gentleman that accompanied me to Indy is Jerry Hatch he is from Lubec, Maine. Lubec is the easternmost town in the continental United States. Located on a headland, with 97 miles of shoreline. There the sun rises and sets very early. To go to Indy and see the opposite was very surprising. Jerry had to drive 7 1/2 hours to my home before we started the18 hour trip to Indy. Jerry is also a 14 time bracket champion at Winterport Dragway. He is currently in second place after losing two weeks of racing due to the Indy trip.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Patsy Bill and Donna Sempsrott are allways willing to help when people need it. I was watching online hoping he would win indy. Four cars is a lot better than the rest of us.Thanks agin for the reports and pictures.

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Sam, It was great to meet you and Jerry. I am so sorry I forgot his name. Next time I need to take notes.
Tom, We were pulling for Bill, too. Hey, now that this thread is back on the front page, ya'll can go to page 15 and see a picture of the engine puller. Patsy |

Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
Toby,
I don't think they are "meanies". I think we just have a disagreement on the interpretation of the rulebook. Patsy |
Re: Live from Indy!!! US Nationals
good reporters dig for the facts larry...
