Tommy,

That sure looks a lot like the GTX that was in New Haven, Connecticut back in the late-1970's.

Could be, I pulled it from a May 1980 National Dragster. Been off work due to the cold and snow and dug a few magazines out of the attic. Also found a original AWB car that was in pieces for a $1000.00. WOW!

Helping my son build his first car. He is 15 yrs. old now, Wanted a Mopar since he was a little kid. We found this basket case down in FL this past Fall. Plans to build him a neat little high 11-low 12 second car to go to HS in next year. Got him sanding/grinding/fitting now, pulled the motor trans, Did the roll bar over holiday break, Suspension next, than M&T after we prep body and have a buddy paint. He seems really into it! Very proud that he can put the work in!

Landy's car didn't have a vinyl roof.

Landy's S/S Charger was bought from Dick by Sam Pannuty sometime after he sold the Cuda to me.. I THINK he then moved it to Wheatley Bros.in Chambridge Md and got their 68 SS/A Cuda in the deal. I have a picture of the Charger doing a burn out when in their possesion.Do not know who they sold it to, but will call Buck Wheatley and ask who got the Charger next.

On another note, but not realey part of this section. I and part of the Buckeye racing team have been looking for the Sox&Martin 66 altered wheel base injected Baracuda for over 10 years. The car was raced by Buck and Vernon Rowley, then sold to somebody south of Mayrland around late 67 or earley 68. Saw a picture of the car somewhere lettered as the Hippy Hemi, but thats it Long shot I know but have to try. Any info. would be great.

Good one Craig, my quick witted bowtie buddy. that race was actually a handicap start SR/B against Stock A.

I quess my comment: "What's wrong with the cuda in this picture?" wasn't a fair question to anyone other than a mopar freak like myself.
If you look @ the hockey Stick stripe on it, the door piece of the decal is missing.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...uda1970004.jpg

My car was ordered new pretty much loaded. Kind of a strange deal considering it was going to be used as a race car. But it helps the bottom line when the dealer you order it from happens to be your fiances father that owned the said dealership.
Anyway,. The car was delivered & it did not have the hockey stick stripe on it, but rather, those hideous vinyl door bump mouldings. Probably the only Hemicuda out there like that. for good reason too. The dealer ordered up a set of stripes for the quarter panels, but they never ordered up the set that continue onto the doors. The original owner left those vinyl mouldings on it when the dealer installed the Stripe.

I peeled those mouldings off, NEVER to be reinstalled. The Stripe stays....

I have never seen those moldings on a hemi Cuda, it appeared to be an aftermarket set put on after delivery.

How could I pass up a chance to rib you about being a half car back to a Charger without mentioning the driver's abilities behind the wheel???

Craig
Factory installed not dealer installed. But you couldn't get the hockey stick with the "rubber baby bumper guards." Thus my comment about sumthin wrong with the cuda.

I would be totally dissappointed if you couldn't get an occasional one in bud, Even tho it wasn't me behind the wheel @ the time. Not to worry tho.................................. heh,heh,heh,-----you know it'll be coming back your way, but the question you gotta ask yourself is-------------- when????

I know where the red 64 aluminum 4 speed car went. I found the add in ND where Vernon had it for sale in 75. My next door neighbor bought it in 77

New to this website, just an old mopar racer & fan.

Started racing back in the late 50's and it lasted for 50 years with 80% of the involvement being with this brand. My neighbor was Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, worked for him after school, evenings & weekends as a kid running his Sunoco station in Berwyn PA, while Grumpy, Dave Strickler & Jere Stahl along with others worked in the back. Fun times for a kid & bad times for saving money, everyone wanted to be a hero.

My '64 Jenkins tuned while still in PA.

My '69.5 A12 car in Denver (tuned with phone calls to Grumpy if needed).

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps19a70708.jpg

This guy was a big help when he was in Denver with one of his Mopar Performance Schools. He would help with issues I was having with the thin air to advise on weight control.

F/SA & G/SA days at Brainerd before bringing to Colorado with rebuild.
