He runs the same small block Z28 combo I do. Steve has a bad piece there! 126 mph in these conditions is outstanding. Great looking car too.

SS should be considered a "mineshaft" after round 1 of class. #65 is currently at -.830 and I think tomorrow morning's air should be a few hundred feet better than anything the SS cars have seen so far.

Sorry, I haven't been out taking pics today, but I have been watching a lot of racing in the heat! Oh thanks to Stan Perry for letting us sit under his umbrella for a while this afternoon. It sure made a difference.


Since we have an engine problem, our racing is probably over for the weekend, but we are still hanging around for a while.


Drew Skillman told me to post that their dinner is tomorrow night in their pits. And Jeff Teuton said for everybody to go eat over there because it just chips and dip and lots of beer at his place afterwards for the presentation of the A/S and A/SA winners awards!

We're almost through the first round of Super Stock class. Lots of nice wheelstands and a few upsets.

Moreover, there is a pretty decent turnout of fans in the stands who are no doubt waiting for the Mopar Hemi Challenge which starts in a few minutes. There's 22 Hemi cars on the sheet and with no Westcott's in sight (and no Rick Houser), were going to crown a new champion this year. In fact, the only two drivers in the field who have won the Hemi Challenge are Jim Daniels and Bucky Hess. As much as I've enjoyed covering Charlie's win's, its refreshing to see the air of unpredictability return to the event.

Oh and Kevin Stubbs, I saw your old Camaro racing in Sweden two weeks ago. Still looking mean and menacing. Very impressed by all the Super Stock/Stock cars in Europe especially the Finnish team that has your C/Stock car.

Never been more miserable since U.S. Class Nats in Byron....just got to motel. Rough 3 days for the fat older crowd.
FYI the cars in the barn not only have pistons out but entire engines sitting on pallets
