Re: Original hemi dart information
Thanks Daryl.
I've been working my way through this fantastic thread for some time (from the begining). The other night at "O" dark 30 I happenned to log in from the back end and starting to see some familiar sights. Too bad our Duster with the all-aluminum 426 isn't a "ROLO" but Denny and I had a great time anyway. Joe Pappas and his wife Lynn spent most of Saturday afternoon with us and your cohort Don also stopped over for a while. I had no idea that Don now owned the Ed Miller Cuda (soon to be a premium diecast - Jim Thoren at Supercar Collectables is a friend of mine) until we talked a bit. Hopefully you'll do some shows together. If you do Carlisle next year maybe we can caravan (we are just south of Toledo), pick up our buds at Pittsburg and all get over there together. When we left this year there was a new Holiday-Inn Express under construction at the head of the road going into the Motel-6. Denny is making motor mounts for Skypower (see above) and his headers are in our shop. My only question is: "Why were your's and ours the only two trailers at the "host hotel"? I'll attach a couple of pictures, including some with Denny and Joe. For those that haven't seen it, gaze at the shadow in the paint on the side of the car. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ps0e1a8d81.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...pse2f78759.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ps910db0eb.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...pscd281cb0.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psf98b343d.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ps098675ea.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...l2012-1011.jpg |

A few Mancini Dart pics from my archives - collected over the years (not my pics).
My brothers were standing at the rail at Indy when the rollover occurred. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...nciniDart3.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...nciniDartc.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ciniDart2c.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ncinicrash.jpg |

Welcome DC, to what has become one of the best and most viewed Hemi Dart forums there is.
Please, add any info and pics you have. |
Re: Original hemi dart information
Most of what I have is already floating around the net. Like the picture of my Ramcharger hauling the dart. I'd have to do some digging to see what I have.
Thanks DC |

Re: Original hemi dart information
The car I owned was the dark blue 4 speed THT dart. When I got it, it was pretty hacked up and the 68 rear was cut off and 70/72 rear added then cut off and the 68 put back on. Inner fenders were gone, fire wall partially gone, trans tunnel partially gone. Fortunately when I bought it in '89 a lot of the hard to find stuff was with it. Original doors, front bumper, front fenders, seats, bases. I built a as close to accurate hemi motor and slick shifted 4 speed as I could. NOTICE: the breathers, plug wires, tach, coil/ignition, shifter, lock out and a ton of other stuff not shown. I sold it and it went to Switzerland in 1998 or 99. I can't remember.

Re: Original hemi dart information
GREAT, first hand history lesson.
Thank you. If you have read through this topic you have seen there is fact, speculation, old memories and pictures. First hand knowledge and previous owners/crew stories are the best. Add more if you choose. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Welcome aboard! |

Re: Original hemi dart information
Welcome here dc426 & hemiman4262003.
When I was looking for an original Hurst car back in the 80's I remember seeing a 4 sale ad in Florida (I believe) for the THT stick Dart. I passed on that one because it had been cut too much for my liking at the time ( doors, inner fenders, & the firewall). thanx for sharing the first hand info on that car. I've wondered for many years whatr became of that car Quote:
Anyone have some info on this 70, as it's history has puzzled me for a long time. Dick told me it was one of his 68 LO's, but, he also told me he converted the stick car. liteweight |
Re: Original hemi dart information
Same car with Clyde Robillard's name on it April 1970.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Now that you mentioned it,, I curious how many diecast Darts are out there. I'm thinking the only one I've seen manufactured was Dick Landy's. Does anyone know of others that might have been created?

There's a few. There's 3 versions of Landy's Darts. The auto, & 2 versions of the stick car. As delivered from Hurst version Bill Bagshaw- Red Light Bandit Herb McCandlis- Mr 4spd. And several different color versions, no name liteweight This is a modified version of a Muscle Machine 1/18th kinda replicating my car when I had Cragars on it. http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...l/HPIM0608.jpg liteweight |

Re: Original hemi dart information
I know you have been talking about the larger diecast models but are you aware that Hot Wheels has 1968 Hemi Darts and Cudas in different colors (or colours since this is Daryl's thread). But more to the point they produced a Landy Dart and the Shirley Shahan Dart. The copyright date on the packaging is 2010 so they probably sold in stores in 2011.
