I remember seeing a new aluminum BB Mopar head that had the 452 casting number cast into it. I suspect that Chrysler was trying to get it accepted as a legal replacement, but I haven't seen anything in the engine blueprint specs.

That's the trans, Pont-A-Monsson. In the picture it looks like quite a contraption. Name sounds like something a women would use for personal hygeine. I wonder if Eckstrands 62 Chrysler 300 letter car is kicking around somewhere. This car was a Cordovan color (reddish brown). Earlier in the year he had a white 300 with an auto trans that he drag raced. Big and heavy but they made some power back in the day.

Havent seen anything on an ALUM head being avaliable YET (maybe its a secret) for the 383/413/440 combos. 68 and up is an "Open" type chamber.....67 on back is a closed type chamber and further back uses a smaller 1.60 exhaust valve.

This was a very interesting discussion about the mid 60's hi-perf Mopars and how they left the factory.

Can you picture guys having a similar discussion 40-45 years from now on what was original from the factory on the '09 Cobra Jets?

I said the hood lifted off ..

because it had the hood off in the pits

the rest I was not sure about .. admit I didn't look at it all that close ,,
only had about a hour to dash thru the pits and take a few pics

I was more interested in the car itself, and the fact that it was single 4 bbl , etc running in a ss class and how that car was able to fit the rules

There were no frost plugs in the front of the heads IIRC .. also another indicator to me the heads were alum and I did see what to me looked like Alum heads, am I positive, no as said before i am not

If you look back you will see on most of my obeseravations , I entered a disclaimer

I will say in my mind, the fact that ,,that car can run "S/S" -"GT" regardless --To me seems to bend the rules

And again , I'm no expert on the rules of what is or isn't on these cars
Just based on what I've been told and seen over the years

The "452" aluminum head that Mopar sells is a Edelbrock head with straight spark plug holes instead of the angled ones on the regular head that Edelbrock sells. They both have a 2.14i and 1.81e valves,so they won't ever be legal for NHRA.

Now if we can get a stock size valve aluminum head, that would be the deal.

I could be wrong but I really don't think that transmission ever was used in Mopar production vehicle. I think the first four speed was the New Process in 1964.

They built a handful of 1960 300F's with the transmission. The number is believed to be anywhere from 9 to 15.

And I'm pretty sure it was a 3-speed, not a 4-speed.

The Pont-A-Mousson transmission was a 4-speed.
