I believe there is a need for the Top Sportsman and Top dragster classes but I would like to see super class racing continue to grow as well. That's one of the reasons behind my original suggestion was to keep the costs down after all that was why they started bracket and index racing to begin with but overall what I'm hearing from my peers in div. 3 is that it ain't broke and they would perfer to just leave it alone based upon the success of the NHRA in the midwest they just may be right. |
Re: Is it time to fix Super Class Racing?
Super class racing is fine just the way it is. No matter what you do, crowds are not coming unless you let them in for free like Norwalk did. Stocker guys allways think that EVERONE wants to see them, well I do and so do most racers, but you guys arent packing them in either, so race what you have and have fun, let the over thinkers in So Cal screw it up.

Re: Is it time to fix Super Class Racing?
When all these proposed changes take place and the fans actually stay in the stands to watch .90 classes will we get to race without paying entry-fees like the Pro classes do?
Just a thought. Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D RIP Mark Graham |
Re: Is it time to fix Super Class Racing?
Great thread Bill nice to see that everyone is part of the discussion and more important can conducted at a high level of passion. Yes, the purses should be better distributed down the line with some type of free entry for the next race to the top ten in class. CR

Re: Is it time to fix Super Class Racing?
In reference to a MPH cap. MPH is not like ET, with ET you can't go under more than your competitor. And if you are over, you are giving room to your opponent. MPH has nothing to do with your ET, .90 is .90 @ 100 or @ 200. The difference is in the closing rate at the stripe. An unexperienced racer will screw up their finish line more aginst a fast car than a slower close race. That's why alot of the hitters go fast. If you take away T-stops, the speeds will come down. They will not be able to stall then charge, and be consistant. Then they won't need 600 inches and more folks could afford to play. We need more players and we need to entertain the fans. You can tell when that occurs, because they stay in the stands when you race!

Re: Is it time to fix Super Class Racing?
Claude, It's like watching a baseball player bunt the ball, fans don't want to see that. They want to see it go over the fence. Yes, bunting is a strategic move to advance the runners, but hit it over the fence and they'll be on their feet cheering. That's what they're paying for!
John Holmes would'nt have ever made it in porn, if he would have had a T-stop on his johnson!!! Wade Mahaffey |
Re: Is it time to fix Super Class Racing?
Wade I'm sure any rookie Fireman you thought, understood everything you explained to him in those term. Quite funny but true. Claude
