Re: Live from Atco , NJ - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Lots of standing water on some roadways. Take your time, stay alert and be safe! Caused me one good scare, but made it through, and on to the track. Kickin' back for a (very) little shut-eye. Still raining.

Re: Live from Atco , NJ - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Good morning --- Yep , I see 'em and I've already taken my meds this morning - both cats and dogs coming down bigtime -- been raining here for several hours - very heavy at times - no flooding here but in Philadelphia they have had rivers cresting and flooding of rivers -- seems to me the last few times I've been here the big story is weather not cars .Anyway the rain is to stop by late morning with the Sun peeking out and the drying process will begin then .
Parking - if you're not already here there is plenty of parking to be had - but unless you're an Alcohol or Comp racer its on the sand for you as the paved portion of the pits are packed - after it gets light out I'll shoot a few pics of the sand areas . Weather numbers -- Barometer -29.41 , temp 71 degrees , 74% humidity , DA 2159 '-- .55 Vapor pressure . Later .......... |

9am update - Still raining here but has stopped in Philly and should here in a few hours .After walking the grounds if I were just coming in I'd go to the return road just past the scales - see pic 4 - plenty dry and on high ground .Michael Beard ( our roving IHRA reporter ) just got in and went promptly to the swamp - then we found some high ground on asphalt - see pic .
Even with all the rain we've had the pits are draining well and are not flooded as bad as I thought they might be and by the end of the day will again be in great shape . BTW, as I'm typing this it started coming down again - hard , very hard ! ! |

Re: Live from Atco , NJ - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Noon - Still a slight rain but almost done - a few seconds ago the Sun was out briefly - surely a good sign .........I'm thinking we're seeing the light at the end of our tunnel .
They just announced track drying is to start very soon ......stay tuned . On another note - has anyone seen or heard from our D7 friends - Toby Lang and Jim Meanor ? ? ? ??? Its been quiet lately --- no posts --- no photoshops - no nothing . |
