It happens more often than you'd think. It depends on the clock operator. Some of them are flawless, or are quick enough to catch their mistakes and correct them that there isn't a problem. Some are just about guaranteed to make mistakes in almost every round prior to the semi's. I've actually worked a divisional race where the clock operator told me "this is the first time I've ever done this". She actually didn't do too bad that weekend. "Not on file" is not an acceptable name for a competitor in any class in eliminations. Having the wrong dial in won't show the wrong winner - our software will still pick up the winner flag from the timing system - but it will result in numbers that don't make any sense, which also results in conversations here as to why who beat who and how. While much of what happens in this sport is dictated by timing system computers, human input still plays a major part. Accuracy in reporting is paramount to myself and my colleagues. It would be very unusual for me to go through an entire event without finding a mistake made somewhere.

We post stuff when it is deemed to be official. Being official always takes some time. Sometimes it takes a long time due to a large number of cars having to clear tech. Even then, being official can change. I prefer to keep the number of revised results posts to a minimum.

There is one computer operator at one track I go to every year who enters all qualifying sessions as Q1. She told me she does not use Q2 or Q3 because "that's not important." I told her it was important to me but she refuses to do it differently.

Good morning gang - Lets start off with a four letter word I've not had to mention much this season - you'll remember it right away - Rain - and we've been very lucky so far this year but today the liquid sunshine started coming down about two hours ago - no heavy downpours but enough that the noise on my roof woke me up .With that I just rolled over for a little extra sleep .

We were to start off this morning with Stock going out first @ 9:30 but that's not going to happen . The good news ? The skies are cloudy but not black and the Sun is trying to peak out and we'll just keep our fingers crossed ....................later .

Morning everyone, I see Jack has given you the morning update.

Here are some shots of Super Stocks first round yesterday. I did got many, it has been a long day. Right after Super Stock I was helping Dan Fletcher change the ring and pinion in his Super Stocker along with his good home town friend Paul. We also had some racing friends helping out, as everyone knows, racers are always there to lend a hand. We loaded up the cart with tools and headed over to the barn. NHRA along with the track was kind enough to let us use the shop. It was much easier than working in the grass, the D 1 staff is always there to help when they can.

As you can see from the photos, Dan wiped out two teeth on the pinion in the Dana rear. We got the rear back together and Dan's ready for 2nd round.

8:30 WEATHER UPDATE - According to local weather experts we are to have another cloudburst in an hour or so and after that we are "clean and green" for the rest of today .Track officials say they fully expect to finish this event today .

The local people missed it - forget that hour deal ................it just started again as I'm typing ............

Noon update - Still raining - started hard about half hour ago - they are already talking about tomorrow - if it stopped now it would be mid-afternoon before they would have the track dry enough - but they have lights here so ..............

The weekend hard partying award goes without a doubt to the Morehead clan - their pit space even after clean-up this morning looks used-up .........those folks know how to throw one ! ! !
