Not sure of the names of all of these, but I sure enjoy taking their pictures. Added one from the oldie but goldie days, probably wasn't a SS but looks like it could have been, maybe. Blaney Drag Strip, 1970's.

The last vette "Caution" was owned and raced by Steve Shumacher from Jacksonville, Florida. Once he sold this car he built a camaro super gas car and put the engine and trans from the vette in it. No electronics, a 275ci with 2-4's and a 5 speed nash and he did very very well with it. He is now redoing his camaro to run comp. Great picture!

I remember towing an empty trailer to Columbus to purchase a Corvette formerly owned by Phil Cocuzza. It was the one Wayne ....... owned. I dropped the deal when the independent suspension and upkeep was explained. I bought a body at about the time the solid rear was allowed and Wayne Crashed at Columbus taking his life. RIP.

I think the Haddad guys had a spool with the independent rear when a half shaft,U joint, or stub axle broke sending them into the guard rail. NHRA later outlawed spools with swing axles unless a car weighed UNDER 1800 pounds. Im not sure if that rule is still in the rule book today.Thats why they finally allowed solid rears in Vettes. There is at least ONE Corvette stocker running now that is using a spool with the swing axle instead of a posi that I know of. He's on borrowed time. Hope it dosent break anything or he will be into the guard rail also.

I would add Juan Mendoza and Phil Coccuzza to the list.

I always thought this was a cool car.And that was way I even thought I'd be racing a 6 cylinder car.

The car was done by SRD with a solid axle and had to be changed when nhra recanted is correct.

I run a spool in my '72 454 car. Tom's Differential setup with Richmond pro-gears, 3.5-inch half shafts and 1480 u-joints. I'm under my car after almost every pass taking a look. Still alive too last time I checked.

Many great Vettes on this post. How about Leon Miranian's Vette, has set, lost and reset national records in everything from SS/DA to SS/FA. He has campaigned this car since about 1975. Has had sucsess at opens and divisional races but no national event wins YET! John Armstrong's car is crazy fast, back about 2004 when he was at the Dutch running against the hemi cars SS/AA he left even against Charlie Wescott but the car wiggled a bit out past 60 ft., the car settled down but then he was a 1/2 car back and it just stayed that way thru the lights. This was gonna be a real close one. I was announcing that one, that run like many others sticks with me. That was a good one. Nice photos on this post also.
