Factory Experimental within Stock Eliminator?

Re: NHRA Announces Changes to Class Guide
I'd almost bet that any type of FX classes would wind up in SS. It seems like SS has become a "dumping ground" for classes that don't exactly fit in Stock or Comp.
I agree with Alan about 6 and 6.5 classes in Stock. A 9" tire would be a scary ride and 10.5 tire puts everyone else at more of a disadvantage. |
Re: NHRA Announces Changes to Class Guide
If they are put into their own class then it's what we've been asking for the last two years. Maybe NHRA has finally seen the light with stock car counts constantly dropping. I hope this includes the lower class cars also. Their numbers are growing. My only concern is that they combine stick and auto cars to make room for the new classes which opens another can of worms since so many combo's have different HP. Many think that the auto cars can consistently compete with the stick cars but a three speed auto with a converter which loses HP going through the converter will not outrun a 4 speed stick when all things are equal. I ran a stick for many years way back when just because it was always faster.

Re: NHRA Announces Changes to Class Guide
Transmissions and converters are MUCH more efficent today than "Back When" until you get into the lower and FWD classes. nNly problem is in todays S/S classes is they are now allowed clutchless stick transmissions.

If we read this correctly they expect a car with more modifications and 170 lbs less wt to run just .18 quicker? |

Re: NHRA Announces Changes to Class Guide
6.0lb Stockers ... like a 427 Cobra? Unfortunately that wouldn't run with the CJ's and Drag Paks either but it'll be interesting to see how deep in the 8's a Stocker will go.
