I miss my '58 New Yorker and its 392 Hemi.......

Because I think most run stock/SS for the reason that its still fun to take on the challenge. Everyone knows they could bracket race for more money, in a less expensive type car...but they like the purist vision of stock/super stock.....

Now I know many bracket race their rides. But you know what I mean, you could build a bracket only type car that didnt have to find the specific heads/engine combo etc...

I like the aspect of S/SS I like the idea of taking what the factories gave ya and running what ya run.

Who makes the transmission that everyone is talking about that have the delay or slow transmission ?

What will hapen if NHRA decides to make a Spec Button to the slow transmission?

If NHRA says the other buttons are illegal then can a transmission company build a delay inside the transmission to compete with the present transmissions?

NHRA will not be making a spec button. (I bet) And with todays technology anything is possible. You think someone is going to give you a name here?

I run Stock eliminator in IHRA, so I do not have a vote, but I would. When I did run NHRA Stock, it was with a 4-cylinder FWD Turismo... I'd be asking for deep staging back, not delay boxes! ;-) I've competed against delay box cars numerous times.... even where they are permitted, I choose to footbrake it.

Who makes the transmission that everyone is talking about that have the delay or slow transmission ? Dave Smith's Pro flites & I would guess his turbo flites also have the optional delay fluid circuits.

What will hapen if NHRA decides to make a Spec Button to the slow transmission? You just adjust the transmission release

I'm not sure what you are asking or what other companies can do. I do know I have built Powerglides capable of minor adjustments to the trans brake release.

With All the comments and pointing out the trans possibilities of delay isnt the only real answer do away with trans brakes? Stall it higher or lower and foot brake it? Many have run faster without and they are really the basis of the problem. If they arent there you cant control it can you?
Problem solution?(no I couldnt vote but would at LEAST say no buttons)This goes for Stock and SS.

So get rid of a button that cost $100 and people are forced to buy a trans worth $5000? That makes alot of sense.

Mr. Butler: try thinking of us lower class SS before advocating banning of trans brakes...try launching 3800 lbs with 265 CI and 375 CFM WCFB
