Re: what was/ who had the most successful stick shift stocke
S.E.B. in stock. I know he won three back-to-back division championships in Div. 4 and many national events. I've witnessed too many races where he won on driving alone. Honorable mentions are Kevin Helms and Dennis Oliver. Maybe Kenny Schindler in SS. There are no particularly overwhelming standouts in SS; too many good ones. Lee Shepherd in Modified.

Dennis Oliver has to be included for the era mentioned. From his 62 Impala SS, 66 Impala, to the 65 Impala that he ran for 20+ years(won a lot in that period and that car is still in competion), he has always had 3 pedals in his racecars. Includes his current Camaro.
Dwight, I remember you did quite well with 3 pedals yourself! Your Z was fast, Corvette faster, but your white malibu wagon is the car I will always remember when your name pops up on here. Still remember the first time I saw it at Carlisle. May have been the first time you brought it out. Dang, that was a long time ago. |

Lots of good drivers listed but....
Stick shift STOCKER (70's thru 90's) was the original topic. Just sayin'. |

Jim Waldo certainly is good though SE Buchanan may get the edge in the1970 to 90 time period and more big races. |
Re: what was/ who had the most successful stick shift stocke
I agree with the Alan Peters votes. I believe his '69 ragtop Camaro was a 2 barrel also.

Re: what was/ who had the most successful stick shift stocke
Alan Peters won a bunch of races and a championship with his 69 Camaro hardtop which was a 2 barrel 350 car, but he also had a 69 convertible 2 barrel car. I drove the car for two seasons, and Alan raced it for a while, and ended up with a Quadrajet on it. I think Alan sold it to Tony Mello in Rhode Island.

That is the same car, and you're right, it was an original pace car!
