I don't have to ,I have a letter stating that you could order a 375 402 that's why its allowed.

This past summer I attended a car show where I came across a 1970 Camaro automatic L78 396/375 car. He was the second registered owner of the car as his father ordered the car new and had all the paperwork. Can't remember the dealer that the car was ordered from but it did come out of south Jersey. At that time I did not realize what a rare combination that is but all I can add is , I seen it and spoke to the owner and he had what seems to be plenty of paperwork to document the cars existance.

Of the 600 L78 '70 (actually '70 1/2) Camaros produced, less than a dozen are thought to have come with the M40 T400 trans. option. There are 2 or 3 still in existence with with documentation. The most heavily documented is one originally sold through Scuncio Chevrolet in Rhode Island.

The line between 'available', 'produced', 'in the book' and 'accepted' has always been blurry. That line has been pretty well erased for many combos and mfgs.

Regardless, any 9 second 396-375 stocker is one bad azzed sumbeech!!!! :)
