Re: A Funny thing has happened to EV’s
Seems like the wonderful electric junk doesn't like cold weather. Some people spend 3 to
4 hours in the freezing cold trying to get enough charge to go home. Sure shows you how smart the idiots in Washington are. |

The F-150 Lightning drew oohs and aahs from the press when it was unveiled in May 2021. Yet the electric pickup has been plagued with defects that have required recalls. It sold a mere 24,165 Lightnings last year and lost roughly $36,000 on each EV in the third quarter.

Re: A Funny thing has happened to EV’s
Was just about ready to pull the trigger on a Volvo XC40 EV twin. 404 hp. The range was short and the interior only came in black. So we will wait see next model year and lease it for three years so we don’t behind the tech curve as it will improve in three years.

Re: A Funny thing has happened to EV’s
Around here it seems that wrecked EVs are causing lots of damage in the local insurance lots. Over the summer there was a Tesla that smashed into a local business' sign at about 80mph. The fire burned for hours, after a total of about 5,000 gallons of water was used in attempt to extinguish it. The local wrecking crew wouldn't even put it on the back of his flatbed, so they put it in a dumpster, and hauled it to a local IAA yard. 2 days later, it rained, and low and behold, the car burst into flames again, and burned for another 4-5 hours. Last weekend, there were quite a few fire companies dispatched to "Raceway Park" for a vehicle fire. I thought to myself "hmm, a vehicle fire in the rain, I wonder what that could be...." Sure enough, a wrecked EV caught fire due to the rain, and burned up at least half a dozen cars around it. I was not surprised to hear that Ford shut down the EV plant last week due to lack of sales and high inventory. I may be wrong, but I'm thinking we're reaching a point where the people that want to buy EVs already have, or will soon. The lovely state I live in was discussing the eventual "ban" of selling new gasoline powered cars. Unfortunately I see that plan doing nothing but hurting the dealerships and manufacturers that are already having trouble moving inventory.
