They just called super gas to the lanes, super stock class is next.

Right now I am looking for a place to race. I can almost qualify at Indy, my car is to new to race NSS. IHRA is not close. And I have a good car.

Pinks All Out. They would love you at their events. You have a pink Mopar that runs in the ET range they often choose. You would be on TV for sure. And only $60 entry to race heads up in front of packed grandstands for $10 grand. I ran the one at Norwalk last week & it was the most fun I've had racing in a long, long time.

But Ford and Chrysler stepped in and said it was a factory option, so it was deemed legal.

Dose this mean Kenny Faulk is getting his hands dirty.
I don't think his #2 driver is able to do a teardown.

I even got Brian Wolfe to smile.

Oh, everyone on that side of the barn is pulling a piston.

The only one that seemed to be having trouble getting thru this morning was John Calvert. But it's not over yet.

I wouldn't want to be the poor soul that has to take apart and reassemble one of those 5.4L modular engines. What. A. Mess.

Good luck to those in teardown and in SS class.

The 1964 427 Hi Riser engine has 2.197 intake valves and 1.725 exhaust valves. Does the NHRA (Dave Wren Hemi) rule still say Plus .005 and minus .015 tolerance allowed ?

One of the exhaust valves had a little bit of material pushed up to the edge from pounding on the seat. It was really close to the max. It was clearly evident what had happened. The other three in the head were under the spec. Nothing was bogus. A few swipes with some sandpaper is all it needed. Just thought I'd clear up any rumours. Certainly wasn't a flagrant issue.

Yes, it is still +.005/-.015. The valves were 1.728 when they went in the heads. The one in question had been pretty deep in the seat and pushed an edge up to the margin.

Well, I think this is a first for Indy!! Nobody was tossed out in teardown! So the only alternates that will get in are for the cars who are broken (like us). And the first alternate #129 has left the grounds. Fletcher got beat in super gas this morning and left. I have a few more pics from today.

Fletcher won in S/G and is shown on the ladder for rd 2. I was listening at work and we laughed at how far under he was dialed.....opponent fouled.
He is also shown as the first alternate in Stock.......

Sorry about the misinformation about Dan Fletcher. He did win in SG, but he did load up and leave this morning. I found out later that he went somewhere to test! So I am sure he will be back by round 1 of stock in the morning.

Pasty, you are correct, Dan went to a local track to iron out some bugs.

I thought the Hemi shoot out was pretty cool, tight racing with to class acts in the final.

I was in the barn for short time, and I have say I am very impressed with Brian Wofle. He is Ford Executive, but has a passion for drag racing and has no problem getting his hands dirty. It was nice to see everyone get through and I guess that explained all the happy faces.

Hats off to Gary Richards getting into two class finals and getting one win, talk about a busy weekend, Gary has plenty of energy, I know I couldn't do it. Gary also has a great crew, Paul is the best.

Paul Adams, that is one bad *** T-bolt, well done.

Contrats to Tom Sheehan our resident photographer. He is pitted right next to me and oh yeah, he has the invite to the barn.

Tearing down the 5.4 is a challenge too, makes a 428 older Mustang seem simple. Very cool to see.

All TBolt finals in SS/B ! Three Fords in the semis! Great job to all involved. Adding up the ages of Paul Adams and Ray Paquet comes pretty close to their MPH!

I believe that the Cobra Jet driven by Wolfe has a 428 pushrod engine based on the 351W. Roland

"428 ... based on the 351W" ... this is STOCK? OK whatever... those are dead simple.

The 5.4 isn't. Maybe he's dirty from helping the others.

For those that asked about Roy Hill, he had computer issues and drove past the scales the first pass, then didnt pass fuel check the second run.

Larry I was there yesterday and rode by your trailer about 4 times and you were never there. Thanks for helping my dad with the golf cart.

We left at 8pm last night and got home at 5am, our GPS told us the car was not moving for 17:43 on a 600 mile ride. My boys had a blast and now we get to go race Jr dragsters tonight.

I was in the tower for the first round of class for SS cars, it was fun to see the ET/MPH and how some racers had 1000 foot deals worked out.

Thanks for the picture of Brian holding that rod. That looks expensive and he's still smiling? At least Ryan got in with the Cobalt. Brian sure likes to work hard. I'd be tipping a couple of cold ones and just be saying, "Oh well. ***** happens."
