Only more class left, B/SA. Jimmy DeFrank vs Jim Boudreau, should be a great race, they just called them to the lanes.

In car video brought to you by Jimmy Ronzello in his 2008 Cobra Jet

Some interesting choices for the barn tomorrow! Scheitlin and Hagberg, who were both 1st round runner-ups! That is all that I have heard about so far.

Is Hagberg's car a Wedge or Hemi.

Here are some random shots of stock today. I have a video of the staging lanes and will post it as soon as I finishing editing.

This in car cam is Kevin Helms driving his 2010 Drag Pack A/S. Kevin was also the winner of the A/S Challenge.

In that era.......

Class Winners were the only cars that ran eliminations....

ALL class winners were torn down....No exceptions...

If the Class winner was DQ'ed
the Class R/Up was torn down and if he or she was DQ'ed
No car from that class made it into eliminations....

Was that a better situation....? I don't know but it sure made winning your class a very sought after goal.....

National events were few and far between.....

All I can say is 'holy cow' what a day .I'd like to say that I spent the day watching great races - taking neat pictures and making new friends but that wouldn't be true .Today was about me and why I came here .Selfish ? Maybe but I came here for a class Wally for myself and for Chevrolet and I gave it everything I had .

The bottom line is that I was busy today with all the usual things one has to do to compete at this level.Stuff like tuning , weight checking ,cleaning the car numerious times ,cooling it off after runs , the rounds themselves , getting 'up ' for each round , the highs(and lows) alone will wear you out .And let us not forget the icing before the runs and the drying off the motor .I could go on and on but let me assure you I'm plumb wore out .

And here's a new one - as a COPO owner I was amazed that people were stopping by to get my autograph on books and other memoribilia .I've had more requests this weekend than my entire racing career .Who saw that coming?

Bottom line is that I made it to the class final - gave it everything I had - my best game and came up short .It just wasn't my day .My hats off ( no pun intended) to Peter Biondo driving Roger Cooks drop dead beautiful Cobra Jet Mustang - we had a fair and square race and he won .Period .

While speaking To Ford Motor Company guru Jesse Kershaw tonight he told me this is how rivalries are started and he's right .Me? I'm a good sport and I know that one day the tables will turn my way .Are you listening Roger ?

Back a little later with more ...........

Topper... haha with his Gulwing. What tool that guy was. Indy has been like that for the last 10 years. All you have to do is point to a car, any car. It's easy. Just be a tad bit smarter than that part-timer. Jack is just used to being a d1 star. I think it's funny that they don't know " Jumping Jack COPO driving Flash" in Indiana..

You are correct, I (Joseph Teuton) hurt the motor against Barton. There were metal shaving in the oil pan. If I had to guess that's where we lost 2 tenths from bowling green. Car should have been in the teen's... Great race with great people.

I hope some one has a few other pics of the blue car riding the wheelies out!

Larry Hill 08-29-2013 09:35 PM

Re: "Live" from Indy US Nationals 2013

I think those pictures were after Joey had calmed it down! The first 2 runs today, I thought he was going over, but he rode it out! Looked great from the stands.!

Thanks to Mopar tonight for the dinner they had for all the Mopar racers. And then thanks to the Skillmans tonight for the great Bar B Que that they put on! I have some pics that I will post a little later.

Like Jack said, it has been a long day today. Hot, but not quite as bad as yesterday, but very busy with running class and trying to cool between rounds!

Headed to the barn that I have heard about so far: Scheitlin, Hagberg, Helms, Jeff Teuton, Michael Brand, Randi Lyn Shipp. Also Joey Teuton's engine had sparkles in it, so they are not running in eliminations.

Good morning - Today for many will be very busy as this morning SuperStock will get their chance at earning a class wally .For others (Stock) today will spent taking apart their engines in the dreaded Indy barn .And as someone who has been on both sides of the fence as they say I can tell you its no fun for the crews or the officials .Indy is a place where if you want to win your parts are right on the edge of legality with not much room to spare anywhere .Its an assembly line process - get 'em in - check 'em and get ready for the next wave of cars coming .Today there will be two shifts - morning and afternoon and later i'll mosey over and see if I can grab the dirt .

For others (such as myself) its a day of reflection - of what could have been had things gone differently yesterday .Woulda - coulda - shoulda .Al I know for sure is that a wally didn't take up residence in my RV last night .But I gave it an honest effort ........

Factory Showdown - what a turn of events - its seemed for awhile that the Cobra Jets and Davids' mighty Mopar would run away from the field but its Indy where anything can happen and did -- spinning tires and breakage played a part as they always do ........would you expect anything less here ?

Back a little later ........
